How to fit pre-painted skirting boards

Hi All,

I have some pre-painted/pre-finished skirting boards I need to install in a large room.

Can anyone suggest how I can attach it to the wall without showing the screw holes?

Since the boards are already painted, I do not want to mark them too much.

Thanks,
Pete.

    hi pete,
all the boards in our house have been attached with a thin line of gripfill on both the board and wall. After attaching put something heavy against themn for a couple of hours so they don't move.
    hope that helps, have fun!
  • hello pete,
I would use gripfill just put 3 or 4 blobs on the skirting depending on length then push in place if the wall is uneven then you will need something heavy to put up against it.

    best of luck!

    Cheers Guys,

Although I may have to remove the boards at a later date. Is there method that I can use that allows me to do this and is unnoticeable?

    Thanks,
    Pete.

If you need to remove them then you will have to use screws, just fill or plug over the screwheads, sand and touch up to match.

I don't blame you for not wanting to plug n seal, we like everything to look perfect too (very anal!).

There is a way of attaching boards to get off, use tool clips like you get on kitchen units to attach plinths. It would be a hassle as you would need to attach pipe or something to the wall as well to push them onto but at least you wouldn't see any marks. You can get quite small clips from screwfix.

Personally I would gripfill and waste the money ripping them off if need be!
