Anyone bought from Laptops Direct?

Been shopping around for a new laptop and finally decided on the one I want. Just about to place the order online, but thought I'd check some reviews for Laptops Direct and found several saying how poor their service is and not to touch with proverbial brge pole. Anyone actually used them and can give me your thoughts please?
I sometimes wonder if the review sites are biased as posters only put comments on when they want to slag someone off, so are they really that bad?

I bought a laptop from them about 2 years ago and it got delivered 2 days later. The laptop worked fine so didn't have anything to do with their costumer services, but usually it's the people that face problems that write reviews0

Laptops direct are great to deal with. Have bought many diff brands from them, even when one went faulty a few months later, they sent a replacement the day I reported the problem, which arrived in a few days before they even had chance to check the one I returned. I always imagine these review sites being filled with comments of either people connected with the company (and therefore +ve), or miffed rival companies trying to deflect business their way. Only other company where I've had equally excellent service was ebuyer, though that could be more to do with the amount spent there every week.0

Yeah I have bought from Laptops Direct over the internet with no problems at all, very quick delivery but I have not had any problems with what was supplied so I can't comment on their after sales. As the others have said if you have no problems you never tell anyone as it went as it should but if it doesnt go how it should you are prepared to tell the world so I always take reviews like that with a pinch of salt.
On another point I used to deal with Easy Computers in Huddersfield a lot through work and their service and returns was spot on never a problem, I could send stuff back I didn't need, or call them and tell them I had a faulty motherboard or hard drive, call in and drop stuff off with no warning and I would either receive an advanced replacment before I had sent the faulty one in or be walking out with a replacment after 10 minutes and a drink.
I would highly recomend both easy and Laptops direct after all they are opperating from the same building and use the same number for sales and advise. They are the same company.0 -
I bought an Acer 5024 from them 3 years ago and thought the service offered was great but I suppose times can change so who knows!0

Hi,
I bought from laptops direct just over a year ago via the Internet with no problems.
About 6 months ago I bought another from eBuyer, and have had to send it back twice, I'm now on the point of asking for a replacement...====================================================

I work for them, not in sales or cs but in there tec dep and i must admit they do have a problem with the customer service dep being under staffed just now and there struggling to keep up with the work load witch is starting to give the company a bad name.
I know Jan-Feb time we have been told there making big changes to the cs so hopefully things will get better from that side of things.0 -
Wouldn't recommend it ! Bought a laptop on 31st Dec for delivery 2nd jan. The display spec was clearly advised as a major selling point and was confirmed in a spec sheet attached to the product description. The e mailed invoice had a different spec, so called customer service and queried. They confirmed definitely spec on web site. Laptop arrived, different spec. Call to customer care met by rude indifference and a comment "send it back and we will refund". Asked to speak to a manager and told will get a call back. Nothing happened, so called Saturday, rudeness again and comment that they don't work until Monday and don't take incoming calls. Also told will pull website description. Today (Tuesday) found that the call promised for between 5 and 6 for Monday on mobile took place at 2pm to home phone, with a message to call. Called back, told managers can't take calls ! Spec still wrong, and have now found 4 others, same make (Acer) all wrongly advertised if you look VERY carefully. In fact, a q&a page going back a month has the comment that the spec is wrong and it will be changed ! The strange thing is, i want to pay more and upgrade to the spec I ordered, hopefully with a small discount for my trouble, and yet they don;t want my money. won't send new laptop until old received back, won;t accept payment of the difference insisting on payment for a new laptop and then eventual refund of the old...
I wouldn;t use them again...still waiting for that call back....maybe AdamMerry can help me if he works for them ????0 -
I purchased from Laptops Direct last year. Very good service and fast delivery. One thing I would say is that they really push you to buy the "Pre-Delivery Inspection" which is around £35. Don't bother with it.0
