I almost fill zip-lock bags with soup- then lay them flat in the freezer. Once frozen they stack sideways and take up much less room......
  • Aldi used to do freezer bags really cheaply, the stronger and avoid freezer "burn", they also sell them at wilkos... I have bought loads of Sainsbury's basic plastic boxes tough, they are the size of a soup bowl (just square) and are the ideal single portion box. They cost about 30p each and are super!

Another vote for the Lakeland soup bags. They stand up on their own while you pour the soup in and then freeze upright in the freezer. They may seem expensive at first but I have washed them out and reused them with no problems at all!

  • If you have a lot of chinese takeaways keep the plastic containers and they are perfect for freezing soup!
  • How long can a potato, leek, turnip and onion soup be left in the pan before freezing?
