I agree, if it's all working again now, don't make any changes!

I have a Windows 7 machine I'm testing out at home currently and, as that doesn't have WMM pre-installed, I'm happy to install it and let you know if anything's different.

As for keeping your original WMM installation, I don't know the answer to that one but I'd hold off on installing that for now if I were you. You can always download and keep the installation files, just in case, then install it if you feel it's necessary later on.

I'll get it installed tonight and let you know what's changed.

Just out of interest, have you tried importing directly from the camcorder into WMM? IIRC, doing it this way lets you choose the quality you want to save it as.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help!

And no, I haven't imported directly into WMM, but the quality when transferring was not the issue. It was the quality of the resulting video AFTER editing with WMM.

Can you capture the video by playing it back on the camcorder and copying it across that way, rather than doing a straight copy off the memory card?
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

Sorry for the delay, things got mega busy here! So I finally got a chance to try it out and it's pretty good, although if the pre-nstalled version you already have is working, I'd stick with that one. The Live Beta version seems to be a cut down version with a different layout. It's very easy to use, but for me it's lacking some important functionality, like not being able to switch between slide view and timeline. It's also only got a handful of transitions and effects included. This may be because it's still in developement, I don't know.

Other than that, it still has the fundamentals, like being able to import and combine multiple clips, add photos and music, and end up with a nice video.

I don't know what will happen to your current setup if you install this, but if I were to hazard a guess (and it is ONLY a guess), I think you'd be ok to have them both installed as the Beta version installs to a different location, and is accessible from a different program fiolder.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Thanks for that... as you say, I think i'll stick with the WMM that I already have. It seems to be working, and does everything I need.

    Cheers for all your help/advice
