There aren't many alternatives, to be honest. You might have more luck with Windows Movie Maker if you upgrade your codecs (I use the K-Lite Codec Pack.)0

Not free, unless pre-installed with new laptops is Adobe Premiere Elements 7 around £650

i know that may come across as not very helpful, but then if i'm looking for something like that i just type in the question to google and see what comes up - work your way down the results and you might be lucky.
if you look for "freeware" programs then you know they're completely free.
you could always go to download.com and search for "movie maker" - everything at download.com is quite safe0 -

Thanks for that... although I would like to be able to add transitions etc and have my own music in the background, like you can on windows movie maker, and I'm not sure the last 3 do anything like that?
It looks like it may be possible with picasa, which i wasn't aware of, so might give it a try later.
Keep the suggestions coming, just in case, lol.
Thanks again0 -
You could always dual boot to linux and use Kino, or run a VM, but that might be overcomplicating matters.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0
