unlocking a VK530

My daughter put a password on her Vodaphone VK530 and promptly forgot it. Now she can't get into the phone and the shop where we bought it can't unlock it either. They say it will cost about £35-40 to send it away to unlock it. Is there any way round this ? Thanks in advance John.

can be unlocked with the correct cable (about £10) and some s/w that you can find if you know where to look ; )
not sure if it will remve the password though?

Sorry , I'm not familiar with the lingo on this site ! What does s/w mean. The sim is not locked ,just the phone.

s/w = software
if you can borrow/buy an unlocking cable i may be able to help you or i can try and do it for you (ive got some s/w that can reset the lock code on some vk models but not tried it on the vk530 (works ok for unlocking though so should be ok)
