Hi
I know everyone's case is different, but in mine, my ex owes nearly £40,000 (forty thousand pounds!) in unpaid maintanence which has built up over the 15 years since we split. He has made one payment in all this time of a couple of hundred pounds which was 5 years ago, and that is it. Despite the CSA always having his details of where he lives, employers etc (I make sure I keep them informed) they have yet to actually pin him down and make him pay. They have a million excuses as to why everything takes so long, they seem to give the NRP chance after chance to pay, without actually taking any action when they don't, despite what they say they will do. Yes they can take away driving licenses, send the NRP to prison, so they say, well do it then!
I wish you the best of luck, honestly the best thing is to expect nothing, then it wont be a disappointment when the CSA fail to deliver, or a bonus if they do!0 -
Thanks Michelefak,
I spoke to the CSA on Friday, as they have been trying to contact him via tellephone to make a card payment, So I rang them to see how they got on, they havent been able to contact him so they have sent him a warning letter now and told me to ring back next friday to see if they have had a response from him, if not then they said they will issuse a deductions of earnings order, fingers crossed the letter gets to him and he pays! other wise they told me they can take up to 40% out of his wage to cover back pay, and if the employer does not act they can be fined.BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0 -
I have had some good news today, CSA managed to get hold of Ex hubby, he was so sorry he had not realised that the standing order had expired!! and that he made a payment then and there and is willing to make over payments every week!! I was in shock! but I wont believe it till its in my bank!
oh and get this the new mandate is "stuck" i said what does stuck mean she said there is a error!!! its been sent to the technical team to sort out but it only effects the back payments!!BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0 -

This is quite common. The 'wonderful' computer system often throws wobblies like this. Beware, it can take a long time to fix.
Btw, this is the same system they intend to use for C-MESS so for anyone thinking the change is likely to happen anytime soon, you might be disappointed/relieved depending on your view point. Bear in mind that CS2 was a result of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act 2000, was introduced in 2003 and still doesn't work. C-MESS was the result of a law last year. As the Americans would say, "do the math".Information is not knowledge.

My daughter has a similar situation (ex not interested in his child and doesn't make any contribution) and what she has learned over the years is that the CSA (now called CMA - M = Maintenance) is without doubt the most utterly USELESS organisation the Tories ever thought up. Changing the name hasn't helped one iota, as if it could, it's still run by the bloke who couldn't run it before!0
