Combo Package - Telephone & Broadband

At home we have BT phoneline
Approximate cost per month is £10.33 (line rental+ VAT). We do not make very many calls. our last statement had £5worth of calls for a 3mont Period

I pay & have AOL Broadband Package, at present 1Mb with Unlimited Broadband - £25.99 a month

We were thinking of maybe changing our phone provider & also swapping my AOL for a cheaper provider & if possible faster access. A few months ago I rang AOL to apply for the 2mb contract however they said it was not available in my area.

Is it possible if I apply to someone for a higher broadband speed, they will do the necessaries to enable me to have a faster speed? or would I pretty much have to wait for BT to get enough requests to upgrade my area?

We looked at Talk Talk, however I noticed there Internet package was slighly more expensive that what I have, even though including their better phone package, it would save my Internet bill less than £2 a month, and probably £5 per quarter worth of Calls.

Can anyone recommend any good providers who can give a good Package to benefit my Mam & also me, Internet wise : - )

Pipex currently have a January offer of 2Mb broadband (or whatever your exchange will handle) and 500 minutes of landline calls for £14.99 per month.

You say that your AOL connection is uncapped so should bear in mind the level of data transfer included in packages around the £14.99 mark. The Pipex one includes the first 1Gb then charges £2.70 for each additional 3GB block. Ideal if you're not a heavy user and still cheaper than AOL if you use less than about 12GB a month.

There are dozens of packages out there around the £15 mark so you're spoilt for choice
