Well thanks all for your advice. I have bit the bullet and got me a lovely new dyson:j special thanks to Basil for telling me about the Tesco deal - I ended up with a DC07 anti allergy one for £169 :money: It was the right decision for sure as after my first go I appeared to have completely new carpets:D
I mourn the loss of a handbag but if this lasts 17 years too then it has been a bargain.0 -
Yay..well done.. good price too. Now what you doing with the old one....yeah so what if one part of it's broke but the motor should still be in good working order. That £169 is only £10 per year of good service I think the OP has does well.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

i would say a new one without a shadow of doubt. i saw in larger tesco store yesterday dyson either animal upright or was the allgery upright for £100 was half price instead of the £200 normal price. pain in the bum as just bought the dc14 orginplus from argos for £140 as my 8yrs gave up the ghost the other week. lots of good prices atm for dysons hope this helps.

I still have my DC01 going strong after 16 1/2 years, it's never been professionally serviced but I do strip it down myself from time to time and give it a good clean-out. I may have got it wrong
but I'm sure I read it somewhere that Dyson repair the older models for free now?

I just use my Henry, I think you are supposed to use bags in it, but I never have and it works just fine.
I was given it by a friend who had used it for a couple of years, but the dog chewed the nozzle at the end so they wanted a new one. I have had it for about another 2 years now and I haven't had a problem with it at all.0 -
We received a brand new Hoover as a wedding gift. It lasted 23 years before blowing up three years ago.
When new it was top of the range and carried a 'Lifetime' guarantee.
I don't call 23 years a 'lifetime!'
Therefore I refuse to be taken in by such claims and I absolutely refuse to purchase another.
My wife has been quite happy to use the good old dustpan and brush since and I have no complaints regarding the cleanliness of our interior fabrics.
Also there are no bags or servicing costs to worry about.
The only drawback is the old girl now finds it a little hard on her knees but I've solved that problem by letting her use my kneepads!
Woohoo!0
