Repair or Replace Dyson?

Cant decide the best route so wondering what you all think
My Dyson DC01 is now over 17 years old ( think I have just answered my own question by just typing that  ) Anyway it works fine apart from a couple of the plastic bits that have chipped off and now it needs pushing down with my foot if I want to get good suction after a nasty bump with a chair.
So dilemma is
Pay £65 to have one of Dysons legendary overhauls but still end up with a 17 year old cleaner. I have some christmas money and if I did this it would leave room for new handbag too:D
Let the poor thing go to the Dyson heaven in the sky and buy a new one with above christmas money thus needing to use "old" handbag
(I would be looking at one for about £150-200 - dyson that is not handbag:cool: )
Which is the best MSE decision do you think?

Hi Nelski. I'm in it for a new vacuum too, but I'll be buying one for under the price that you have to pay for an 'overhaul'
Your Dyson though has served you really well, and if you did spend quite a bit of money on a new one, you'd be getting all the benefits of the latest technology (which is always nice!) So go on, treat yourself!
PS. Mum has that upright Dyson too i think..and before that, she tells me she had a bagless Hitatchi vucuum - Dyson not making the worlds first bagless vacuum cleanerSealed Pot Challenge 15 #78

It's got quite a few years of good use left in it. If you do replace then freecycle the old one and let someone else fix it themselves and enjoy it.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Freecycle has always got a DC-01 going, that can be cannibalised for parts.
They're like a trusty old broom that's had the head replaced three times and the handle twice and still works.0 -

i would say a new one without a shadow of doubt. i saw in larger tesco store yesterday dyson either animal upright or was the allgery upright for £100 was half price instead of the £200 normal price. pain in the bum as just bought the dc14 orginplus from argos for £140 as my 8yrs gave up the ghost the other week. lots of good prices atm for dysons hope this helps.

I would go for the over haul & hand bagFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0
