If you could prove your dad bought it then it belongs to him and the OR couldn't take it - i suppose you already know that though and have your reasons for not wanting to get him involved. However now that things have changed and the OR does want your car maybe you could change your mind.

I suppose you could say you were speaking to your dad and told him the OR wanted the car and thats when he brought up the fact that the car belonged to him blah, blah, blah and you thought because you are the registered keeper it belonged to you or whatever. It actually looks even better as he pays for tax and MOT that is more in his favour.
Who cares what OR thinks?

Hi Lisa, good to see you back!
I have to say I'm inclined to agree with startagain - if the car looks good but is mechanically faulty, you might be better off changing it. But I know it may be 6 of one, half a dozen of the other ... In which case if you want to keep it I would definitely go along with what fyp says above, especially if your dad can prove he paid for it. The OR's not to know whether you were aware that being registered keeper isn't the same as being legal owner or not! (Does that sentence make sense??:o) You could play the dumb blonde role (if you're blonde of course - and before anyone starts, I am!) and be totally surprised that your dad is the actual owner.
I think they've been really harsh in taking your car, Lisa, I really thought it would be safe with you needing it for your nan as well as the kids. Makes no sense ...
