Cancelling T-Mobile Contracts
Morning all, I’m in need of some advice regarding “contracts with mobile phone companies”.
Basically I want to change from T-Mobile (customer of 15years) to O2 - I’ve got the “Apple” bug and I want an I phone.
Now T-Mobile have said to me … Because I have 9 months to run on my existing contract they want £225 to end it!
I would keep the T-mobile contract running (lowest option @ £25 a month) in addition to a new O2 contract - if I could swap my existing phone number over to a new O2 contract) but I don’t think this is possible.
I tried requesting a “good will gesture” being a good customer, never missing a payment and giving them the best part of £7000 over the last 15 years but they were obviously having none of it as I am wanting to leave!
Is there any other way around this?
Has anyone got any tips of getting out of contracts?
or
Know if i can swap my existing number to the new O2 contract and get a new number for my old contract that I would keep running for the next 9 months.
Hope that this makes sense!?!?!
Thanks

Unfortunatly there is no way of getting out of your contract, porting your number over to o2 would automatically cancel your t-mobile contract leaving you with the early termination fee. There isn't any way out of this, regardless how long you've been a customer, as you signed the contract to pay for the full 18months. Sorry

No way out I'm afraid. I would keep the contract and 9 months down the line you will have much better deals for the Iphone.0

I thought this may be the case.
Thankyou both for your quick response though.0 -
If you really wanted your number to take with you to O2, the only way would be to pay the termination fee, or reducing your line rental to the lowest and paying off 9 x that amount. I did this with Orange, should think it would be poss with TM too??0

T-mobile don't let you downgrade your tarrif until the last month of the contract, so this wont be possible

just don't pay your bill. that's my advice but I'm an idiot. Works for me tho. I asked to cancel my contract. They said i have to pay remainder in one lump sum so I said well unfortunately i can't afford that. Not paid a penny since.0

Some people are more responsible than you and actually need good credit files though.0 -

This must be one of the most stupid bits of advice I've ever seen on here. Wait until they chase you up for the remainder of a contract you signed, then welched on. Your credit history will be !!!!!!ed for years.

Unless since the start of your last contract you have increased your tarriff to what your on now - you can always downgrade to the starting tarriff.LikkulRiP wrote:just don't pay your bill. that's my advice but I'm an idiot. Like poster states - advise from an idiot. You credit profile is more importaint to you now more than ever in the uk current climate why sacrafice it for a phone?
T-Mobile currently only offer the I-Phone to customer who are in the last month of their contract if you could hold off.
Why not have a shop around an see if there is any companys around willing to buy you out your contract and get you the I-Phone / these are usually 3rd party companys like Phones 4 U ect. But i'm not sure if they currently offer the i-phone.0
