unfortunately, 5-6 pound a day seems to be an average cost at the minute to maintain winter bills for gas- please bear in mind your gas usage over the summer will be next to nothing and because you're on prepayment, you will notice the outgoing more at the minute compared to dd paying customers- the one way around it is to put say ten pound a week over the summer to budget for the winter once it comes around... if you are on prepayment, chances are you have a standing charge on there.... put your heating on for an hour on full and record the meter readings, ask scottish power what your prices are so you have an accurate idea as to how much it costs you to run the heating per hour- its easier to keep on top of :)

Thanks to everyone for your help. I only have a thermostat on the boiler and some of the radiators have like a panel across the top unsure of what these are called (im only 22 lol). Unfortunately I cant turn the heating down or off as I have a three year old child who I have to keep warm.

When I was 3 we didn't have central heating. In fact only one room had a fire.

We wore clothes and ate warming foods and drinks.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

That's why you are spending so much on gas. Is it your house or rented? Get the landlord for the instructions for the boiler, and ask how much insulation is in the loft. Do you have double glazing? If it's your house service the central heating.

Three year olds play in the snow outside with no problems as long as they are suitably dressed. Same in the home. 15 degrees C is your minimum comfortable temperature; if you are going above 20 degrees you have got too used to having it easy.
