    sounds high,
but depends on how much and long you have your heating on each day how much hot water you boil etc. turn your heating down and put it on for less.

How many meter units/kwh are you using per day?

Do you have a thermostat for the heating (not the one on the boiler) and TRVs on your radiators?

    Hi there
I would get the thermostat checked and also if the radiators are warm at the bottom but cold at the top, they may just need bleeding using a rad key.

... and if they're hot at the top and cold at the bottom, they're full of sludge and you'll need to clean the system out and put inhibitor in it. It's a boring job, but easy enough to do if there are two of you and you have a couple of hours...

Energy prices are very high at the moment, due to come down in the next few months. Thats the reason for the high cost compared to a few years ago. Just have to cut down on energy use. I wear jackets and thermal hat using the day and have 2 blankets for sleep and dont have any ch on. I'm a young man so I can cope.

If the boiler is firing, the meter is turning. Best to put more clothes on or thermal vest/leggings. You only buy them once whereas you will pay for gas day in and day out.
  • thanks 2 every1 for ur help.i only have a thermostat on the boiler and some of the radiotors have like a panel across the top unsure of what these are called (im only 22 lol).unfortuantly i cant turn the heating down or off as i have a three year old child who i have to keep warm.

A healthy three year old can be kept warm with food and clothing. They do not require central heating. If you are poor, use your income sensibly. Don't waste it on unnecessarily overheating your home.

Hi, i am living in a terraced house with gas from scottish power and we pay £40 a month which works out to about £1.30 a day (i think) we have the heating on from 5am-8am and 4.30-7.00 in the evening so about the same as you. Make sure you are not paying a standing charge for your gas, ring scottish power and tell them you want the no standing charge tarriff as this will save you a little but at £5-6 a day are you really using £150 a month? if so it's far too high and you need to get your radiators checked, if this fails ring scottish power and ask their advice because this is definately too much for what you say you are using
