you need to go back to the retailer, you dont need a reciept just proof of purchase."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0

i dont know which retailer it was bought from0

hmm there is a thing called fair wear and tear and 15months is not that phone up sony again tell them it is not that and they have a duty to repair it if they get funny threaten them with trading standards firstly and see what they come back with,
as to wear it was bought is an irrelevance other than to prove 'when' it was bought but sony should have a reference from the serial to say when it was manufactured but i would do the first bit and see where you go from there but you may have an uphill struggle on this one but let us know how you get on!

Sony have no responsibility for this item - the retailer is responsible. This is what Trading Standards will tell you as well ! If you don't know who sold it, all you can do is take it to a repair shop and see what they can do.0 -
i did threaten them with trading standards they were not interested i was on the phone for 30min trying to get something from them they were not interested the sad thing is i just bought another sony tv on dec 24th for my father if i had known this was sonys responce i would have bought another make of tv:mad:0

You're misdirecting your blame. It's the retailer who are responsible for the products they sell and any manufacturer warranty is given as an extra beyond any legal requirements. You'd have had exactly the same response from any manufacturer because under law it is the retailer who is responsible for any faults since they're the only ones a consumer has a contract with. As mentioned that's why trading standards would tell you so, no wonder they weren't interested in your threat with TS since TS would have sided with Sony. Sony only have a contract with the distributors they sell to and when they give any kind of warranty for the end consumers it is actually a bonus that they are not required to do.
You really need to try and find out who the retailer is, check your uncle's credit card statements etc if you have access to them. It makes no difference that it's a Sony TV or any other kind. If Sony had done anything at all for you it would be way and beyond what they are required to do and I don't see it as a negative at all that they haven't."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It's an unfortunate situation. But look upon the bright side. You have not lost any money over this failure, as it was a gift in the first place. If it is as new as you say it is, then it might be worthwhile trying to find someone who can do a repair/replacement part.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
thanks everyone for ur help0
