Need Help With MIGRATION AUTHORITY CODE!! AOL

I made the big mistake of cancelling AOL by email as I was fed up with being put on hold and having to listen to rubbish music while I was waiting. I said in the email I was cancelling my subscription and expected an email in reply as I still had 2 weeks left of my monthly payment. Silly me!!! When I went to log on the next day I found a message waiting for me saying my account was no longer in use and to ring the Customer Services number. I did this and spoke to a rude and obnoxious man in India who told me that I shouldn't have emailed them - that I should have phoned them- that my account was now dead and he couldn't reinstate it because I had cancelled Broadband. So next I rang their Billing Dept. also in India but I was lucky this time and spoke to a nice lady who confirmed that I still had 2 weeks left, she put me back on line but on DSL not on Broadband.
The upshot of all this is I can't get a MAC and my contract will be finished with AOL in the next few days. So I won't be able to go to a new IP because I haven't got a MAC. It's a nightmare and I don't know what to do next!!
Can anyone out there help me please???

It's a shame you have taken the route you have. If you had asked for a MAC (without cancelling), you could have signed for a new supplier, and your broadband would have only been down for less than an hour while they switch your supplier at the exchange. Lots of ISPs will also let you sign up for free with a MAC.
Seeing as you have cancelled. You will have to wait till your service is finished with AOL. Then sign up as a new customer with any other ISP you like. The only problem with this is, you will be without broadband for 1 or 2 weeks untill your new service is all in place.
If you have a dialup modem. You can always use a PAYG dialup connection in the meantime. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thanks for your reply Rex,
I wish I'd known about the MAC BEFORE I cancelled, but I didn't and AOL don't give you any indication that you need it on their Cancellation Help site.
I'll know next time though, won't I!!! I'm due to be cancelled on the 26th so does that mean I can sign up as a new customer to another IP straight away?
Appreciate any help as I've never switched Provider before.0 -
