got a free holiday at Pontins last year and we went to hemsby. the beach was lovely there and the accommodation though basic was better than the one in Southport liverpool.

Pontin's at Hemsby is closing down, so don't waste a choice on it.

hi,ive been reading about this to see if its any good,im on a very low income and ive never actually been on holiday except once with family when i was about 8,now ive got a 2 (almost 3) year old i would love to take him somewhere if i can get it at this price! and its of an ok standard, doesnt have to be the ritz! lol ..my question is- is it to late for me to start collecting to tokens now?? and if anyones got a short explanation of how it all works id be really grateful! ?

Hi it's not too late, I think there is a pullout in the newspaper today but otherwise the info is on their website. You need ten different tokens and can collect them until Jan 24th but would advise starting asap so you are more likely to get your choice of dates/parks.

Start buying the paper today and you will still be fine.
Don't tell my family but last year I left it to the last minute to send off my form because I just kept forgetting to buy the paper. I was worried that I wouldn't get in but we got the park we wanted anyway although we didn't get half term and got the week before instead. I guess if your little one is only 2/3 you don't have to worry about school holidays.

I would urge you to do it now. I am a single parent and my children went 10 years without a holiday until we went to Haven with my sister and I realised just what my children had missed out on. We now try to do 2 a year and even though we only go for 3/4 nights my children really look forward to them and love all the entertainment and the characters.

  • Does anyone know if any dogs are accepted at any of the parks in the North West area?

Can anyone recommend a park resort to go to? Went to Camarthen Bay Holiday Village last year and kids had a fab time - youngest is quite taken with Sparky and Narky so was looking for a break for Oct half term. Going to Kessingland Beach in Aug so didn't really want to go there again. Any other recommendations?

I would recomend Scarborough Park Resorts. My daughter says it is the best holiday she has had with the Sun. We didn't upgrade but got a 3 bed heated caravan with TV/Freeview/DVD and microwave for no extra charge.

The park is only a 10 minute bus ride or drive away from Scarborough town and the best thing about it is the front and all the amusements are open 53 weeks a year.
We would choose it again but the train journey is just too much at 5 hours and 3 changes LOL!

Re Pontins in Hemsby, good thing really, the place is a dump!! Stayed there last October, so many issues  but the price!! Rooms were dirty and the pool changing area was disgusting. People were leaving early!!! Pity really because the brands good. Hoping to get a Park or Haven resort this year. I am on Mat leave as of March so can be flexible with dates. Me thinks its going to be more popular then ever this year as its such a good deal:p .
