sorry if this in wrong place
im awaiting a quote for upgrading my loft aeriel to accomodate freeview in a bedroom
i have sky downstairs(no subscription)
would it be cheaper to have freesat or similar upstairs as i already have a dish
or is it not something my aeriel man can do just a sky man
thankyou

If you've already got a dish, Freesat is an option but you'll need a spare connector on the dish and a cable running to where the box is going to be. If it's only got a single output LNB (box on end of dish arm) then by the time you've had a dual or quad LNB fitted and cable run, it'll be cheaper to do the loft aerial.Conor

You'll need to have a look at the LNB on the Sky dish. If you have a free output, there's no reason why you can't have a cable from that into the bedroom. If there's no spare outputs, a quad LNB can be bought for around £10-£15.
You would than have the option of buying a freesat box or a sky digibox.
Your 'aerial man' should be able to do it for you.Dave. :wave:0 -
thanks dave
i will hang out the window tomorrow and have a look
i will also get the aeriel man to look on tues as im sure it will be a cheaper option to changing my aeriel

I'm looking into the same.
This looked like a reasonable deal:-

Don't you both just need an powered signal distribution box about £20, aerial in and four outputs?0

No idea why it's not appearing as a clickable link.
As I understand it the "shotgun" wiring is 2 cables in one for PVR functionality. Will that affect my current single feed? i.e. will I just change the LNB and then have the existing feed and 2 new ones going via the shotgun cable and one spare (for now)?0 -
all going over my head that
i have no one to do it so will have to rely on my expensive aeriel man on tues
going to ask him which is cheapest connecting to sky dish at front of house for a bedroom at back(lot of cable)
or new aeriel in loft for freeview0 -

I've no idea, but sounds good. Does that split it into 4 independent signals? Any examples?
I'd still have to route the wires internally, though I guess that's easier than messing about with the sky dish and running more external cables.0
