Can anyone suggest where I can get a reasonable view as to how Bank Rate is going to change over the next 2 to 3 years ?

I suspect there will be 3 things which might happen to them

    a) They go up
    b) They go down
    c) Stays the same

There are reports published almost daily by various economists. Google will find them for you.

Take every one you read with an extremely large pinch of salt!

The first two are now less likely - on account of the rate being 2% (and it's never been lower) In the immediate term rates must go down. In the medium term they will rise (from here!) In the long term nobody knows

  • Surely if they go too low (according to the articles I have read) and the pound sinks further, this would trigger inflation and then scenario a) is more likely?

Round of applause to lokolo for two outstanding posts :D

gozomark - I'd be surprised if rates hit 6%, I think a cap around 5% is more likely, but it's just a feeling with no data behind it.
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.

I think Frege was being humorous (in a dead-pan kind of way). It made me laugh anyway.
