Benefits and Traveling

As my post as well as the font it was written in appears to have caused offense and judgment among some members who know absolutely nothing about our situation I have removed it and will take my queries elsewhere.[FONT=Comic Sans MS, cursive]

Do you both receive DLA?0

Unfortunately forum guidelines means it is difficult for us to reply to such obvious flamebait. Too disabled to look for work but not so disabled to rattle about in a seated position driving/navigating for hours per day. One of those strange complaints where only work-related activity triggers discomfort?
If you want to go travelling, get a job, save up, and pay for the holiday yourselves.
And please do not alter the default typeface. That is very irritating.0 -

I think that is a bit out of order as we dont know the reason,s why the OP gets DLA and also the reasons why they are going Travelling do we? No we dont.0 -
They're going travelling because they don't have to work for a living and have us to pay for their holiday.
The OP claims DLA because she or her OH has a condition which means they need care and assistance with daily tasks. Quite how that means they'll be able to manage rattling around the UK in a van is beyond me but certainly, if I was working for the DWP, they'd be facing some very awkward questions about their eiligibility.
One also wonders that if they can manage to spend a year living in a van why they think they're incapable of working. Certainly it appears that managing a career in transport as a driver isn't beyond them.Conor

I agree. If only they had refrained from altering the typeface I would have kept schtum.0 -

Perhaps if you gave further details people would have been able to help and understand more.
I note you have also removed your post from the other site you posted the same question on although you had not received any replies, this does strike me as odd.0 -

Based on the information you originally provided, i.e., "we're claiming DLA/Income Support – will our benefits be affected if we take off round the UK for a year in a van?", KimYeovil's response is NOT unreasonable. If there's more to the story, perhaps you could enlighten us...? If there isn't, then I assume you just can't see how having a year's holiday effectively paid for by the State would get people's backs up...If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
People can only respond to the information YOU give them, so rather than getting stroppy with posters for apparently "judging" you when they haven't got all of the information, you'd do better to provide the full story in the first place!

Well, my post was meant to encourage more information as I thought the OP was too vague by far tbh.
Seems they may be a time waster, or troll, anyway though.0 -
They were new to MSE perhaps if people didn't jump in to judge so quickly then perhaps the OP would have posted more details
(just a thought)
You can be new to a forum but still understand that you have to give people more information. I wouldn't ask my friends for advice on something, never mind an online community, if I wasn't prepared to give them the whole story! And there's little point in getting all huffy with people saying "oh well you don't understand" if you haven't tried to enlighten them first!
Yes, a "welcome to MSE, how may we help?" might not have gone amiss, but with the recent influx of trolls to the forum, and in particular this board, rightly or wrongly, you can see why people responded as they did.If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0
