    Whats an ebay BANS site?

Yes if anyone could explain further on who they use etc. I have just done a google for this and it seems a good idea.

I see http://www.buildanichestore.com/ are one company who do this. Do you literally just create a store than there software just uploads all the items for you?? Is it then a case of doing some SEO work to generate some cash? do you get paid per clickthrough or for each purchase?

I've been reading quite a bit about affiliate schemes, particularly eBay, and about making money from Adsense.

Looking at a few website selling sites there seem to be quite a few ways to setup a low/non maintenance website that earns a few hundred pounds a month.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience in this?

Adsense, you need good placement of the ads, you also need lots of visitors to your site. All these instant "adsense content" instant sites are not worth anything. Build a site relevant to your area of interest, and choose a niche then try that for a hope of eventually earning. I earn ok out of adsense, but I have some websites I have had now for almost 10 years that have lots of natural traffic. It is difficult to earn quick money that way. Lots of hard work and maintaining your site... for the chance of getting a reasonable flow of people to your site

Agreed! All about placement, styles(colours etc...) and the fact that you've not plpaced a blatantly obvious ad in my way which creates a break in what I'm reading then i'm likely to click on something I see interesting.

Save-a-lot what do you mean by you earn "ok" out of adsense? What would you define as ok and what sort of traffic volume and CTR would that be for you?

I get anywhere from 450 to 800 unique visitors a day, click thru rate - unsure about that. On a good day I can earn 35-40 USD, more usually 20 USD or there abouts, then some more on other income streams with sponsored results pages -- the latter is feed based content.
  • thats not a bad ctr what sort of niche is that your working in ?? i use the financne niche and to take home that sort of daily from google i need at leastat least 3/4 k impressions

    How much per day? :o

I have a #1 Google ranked forum and don't make anywhere near that. The forum has been running for about 10 years with plenty of daily activity. I've done the usual moving of ads to see what gets the best CTR... how do you do so well?

It depends on your target - I have a range of sites and by far finance related sites and the adsense placement on these sites pays the best. Very competitive arena though.

Consider using Miva content. I am trialing this, I am using inline advertising that is where you see words underlined in your text. On mouseover you see an ad box. Worth a go at, especially if you have articles on your site.

    Thanks Phil.

I have tried using InfoLinks for the underlined words, and I'm not getting a great deal out of that. It's a difficult balance between ad placement and not annoying your readers.

I'll have a look at Miva though, thanks.

having bought the software, you use one of their templates to make up your own site, which you then "populate" with articles on the theme (which you choose, for example "tractor parts, jewellery, designer shoes"). Your site lists ebay sales items on the same theme and if someone sees the link, goes to the auction and then buys the item, Ebay will pay you a commission.

You can target several Ebay sites inc UK, US and Australia.

Before deciding have a look at Ebays affiliate scheme to see how they pay commissions first and do not target auto sales,as although high sums paid, they only pay a fixed commission not a percentage as per other items on auction!

It's not rocket science and can work but you have to pay for site hosting and domain name registration, like any web business.
