I've been reading quite a bit about affiliate schemes, particularly eBay, and about making money from Adsense.
Looking at a few website selling sites there seem to be quite a few ways to setup a low/non maintenance website that earns a few hundred pounds a month.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience in this?

I don't use any affiliate schemes yet, but I have adsense on my 2 blogs, which together have earned me abot 85$ in the past 12 months! So not a good earner! The real issue is traffic - I get 20-30 hits a day on my blogs and am trying to increase that - difficult!
My OH has a website for a niche kind of car - only a hobby site really but it is earning around 30$ per month - he has up to 200 hits a day in the right season.
So you need 200-300 plus visitors per day and of course they need to click on the adverts - very unreliable income!0 -
I have set a few sites up last year on various themes with the aim of generating some revenue from adsense, amazon affilliates and ebay.
If you don't already know how to set up websites, organise hosting, cater for search engines etc then there's a lot to learn for what may amount to very little monthly income.
A blog with some adsense and an amazon widget would be a good place to start but you'll need a topic you know plenty about and regular posting.
Any questions, ask away.

out of all the schemes available adsense pays the most by far. amazon pays the least. the trick is to find a profitable niche then build an article rich site or blog which attracts traffic. i do well with gardening. other niches include photography and cooking. top of the tree is gadget reviews but you really do need to be an expert for that one. ad placement is important, you can plug in free heat maps to your site to see where people are clicking and place ads accordingly. keyword enrichment is essential too so google ranks your site highly. however if you go mad on keywords and google will drop your site. one site will not make you rich. 100 sites will be profitable 1000 sites and you are on your way!Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320

Might be worth taking a look at probloggers website http://www.problogger.net/ has a load of suggestions for making cash from blogs/websites if you dig through the archives.0

As above google ads bring in the most for me followed by Amazon. Ebay doesn't perform well at all.
I do well on DIY sites and cooking so far. I gave a small garden site which I plan on spending more time on before the spring.
I set up around 8 sites last spring an bring in an average £70 per month from them. I plan on developing more sites on the topics which perform this year.
I'd like to see £300 per month so I have a long way to go but once they're set up they require little maintenance and I can always sell them at a later date.

The forums at digitalpoint is a good place to start on all things web site.

There are also other PPC providers other than adsense worth checking out which i found on here http://www.rosswalker.co.uk/adsense_top10/
Some have less restrictions, some pay more and others are very selective on who they choose (i.e high traffic sites). I myself have one single blog ATM which doens't earn me anything yet but it is very niche so don't expect it to. Might start a few more later but have other things to focus on
Someone told me this before but i didn't believe him but now i do which was that you'd need about 100+ genuine sites with all the related sites being linked to eachother for you to stand a chance at earning anything worth looking at your bank statement for!
But in addition to this that is why we have an abundance of useless websites circulating the web. Just make sure you've found an untapped (or uncompetitive) market.

I think it's dependant on your expectations and interests. I've built a few web sites for local small businesses but I've found I can generate more income from my 'adsites' and it's easier too.
£70 per month isn't a lot but as an additional income with very little work once they're set up and running it's almost seems like for nothing at times.
There's a lot of work/studying to get them set up in the beginning.

What about things like ClickBank and eBay Affiliates?
I've seen a few sites for sale that don't need updating like blogs as they simply use the code from these sites to keep the site up to date.0 -
Personally i haven't much luck with ebay but it you wanted to try this route you could look at a BANS store. Google Build a Niche Store.
