It wouldn't be that easy though, surely?
I hope they don't take a student's word for it, anyway. Especially when it is a student whose parents are high earners!
No, they must check it out?0 -

If I dealt with student income assessment I would be thoroughly cynical about everything they put, wouldn't you?
I really don't think that it's that easy; they look at whether Child Benefit was claimed, for example and where the student has been living and how funded.0 -

I have never smoked so do not know how easy it is to quit.
Going from my parents experiences who smoke like a chimney and have tried numerous times to give up but always failed, I would guess it is quite difficult.
Do you thinbk he would pay £140 a month if it was so easy to give up?0 -

Never easy I guess, but I can honestly say I do not know of one person who has successfully given up when using patches. I know several who have managed going cold turkey...
Maybe that can't be generalised though.0 -

I have!:j
OP I strongly suggest you join the giving up smoking thread. A great source of support and encouragement from many people who understand exactly what you would be going through.
You can get the patches or any other nicotine replacement therapy on prescription (as you are student these should then be free).
If you can save that £140 a month life would be much more pleasant! On a mission to banish our credit card debts

What? You can do SEO and programming... so why not make websites and make money off the advertising revenues. That's what I used to do. Made me £250 a month and one site that made that only took 24 hours to make.0

I was going to suggest the OP changed his status with student loans to 'Independent' as he does not talk to his parents, but you're right, they DO check it out and you actually need ALOT of information, mostly from social workers, and sometimes estrangement may be very real, but not that 'official'.Sealed Pot Challenge - #5900
