Pc Failure, not booting

You're telling me.
I thought my problem would be simple, bought replacement parts, swapped parts, no success. Tried other possible combinations in case I have a double fault (original fault + faulty replacement component), still no success.
No boot, no BIOS message or beeps, nothing pointing at what problem may be !!
Very annoying & frustrating !!

When you are powering up the pc are you powering it up with the floppy,cd roms, hard drives & ram all attached to the mobo?
I have tried powering out of case with just pcu, mobo & graphics, still no bios just 3 beep- which on my mobo website is badly seated ram, however i have no ram in the mobo, so that removes that theory.
I have also tested my ram,pcu & graphics in another system, which are all working. Looks like a mobo fault however you said that you changed your mobo but to no avail!!
The mobo that you tested, was it pulled from a working system?
Have you changed the processor aswell in the new mobo?

You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0 -
J,T,N Peter9 what is your mo/bo and cpu?0

JTN I'm not sure that you will complete the post test without memory - can you try with just one stick of mem. I think socket A m/boards were funny about memory-I had one which suddenly stopped working, friend said remove one of the sticks of mem and it worked!!
What memory are you using?0 -

It should post as it has 64k onboard memory, however i have also tried multiple sticks of ram in both slots & single slots with 1 stick of ram & 2 sticks of ram. I have tested my own ram sticks in another comp & it's fine.
Still no further forward

Have tried booting with M/B out of case, no success & no beeps.
Bought M/B 2nd hand, assume it was working.
Yes, have tried 2 other CPUs as well.

Have you got a speaker attached to your mobo/or an external speaker plugged into the rear of the mobo to check for beeps?
It seems that your mobo doesn't have on board graphics, did the mobo you tried have an on board graphics slot?
Was there anything at all from that other mobo you bought? You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0 -
Now I'm not sure about the speaker.jackthenipper wrote: »Have you got a speaker attached to your mobo/or an external speaker plugged into the rear of the mobo to check for beeps?

I thought/assumed there were was a small speaker on inside front of case, & thought the bunch of wires to front of case (to on/reset switches/LEDs) included wires for this speaker.
Now I don't think there are wires for speaker, so speaker could not have been connected.
No, external speaker is not connected into rear of M/B.
Maybe I need to check speaker connection & beep situation again.
I have tried 2 replacement Socket A/462 M/Bs.
1st M/B is same model I already have (doesn't have onboard graphics)
2nd M/B has onboard graphics.

I am only guessing but I'd blame the m/b. You could ask on your local freecycle group for a socket A motherboard ,just ask if you can see it working. I just answered such a request and I've got another just behind me which was working fine and I can get it to post too, so I think that freecycle is the way to go, there must be plenty of others too. I'm in east yorks but I bet you can get one local to you. I have bought m/b's from ebay but I'm not surprised at any problems- it's a kind of dumping ground for obsolete stuff by greedy peeps.0
