Hi
I just bought myself a Sony 32" LCD TV and am now looking to hook it up to my laptop so I can watch any movies I have on the laptop, on my TV
Am I right to say that a 15pin VGA is all I need?
What do I need to get sound from the TV rather than laptop?
Thanks

What Sony TV do you have and what laptop?

I used to use one of these kits I bought (similar as I just googled this one) for mine a yea ago, but it all depends on what moel your tv is and laptop... Laptop end is easy though as you say a VGA cable should do it.. Sound is via out to your audio in your tv..0 -
I have a Sony KDL32V4000
i have two laptops - one is a HP 6910 and other is an older model HP4950 (I think)
(if that helps at all)!!!0 -
Ok, I have the 4500 Sony, so similar set-up although not connected PC to it yet as got it for Xmas...
You are correct and a simple VGA lead both ends should work.. Have checked the Sony (Richer Sounds) and your tv has the PC input...
Soundwise, you will need a 3.5 plu socket or whatever your earphone sockect is on your laptop to a dual audio (white/red) socket on the back of your tv for the sound (I think).
Again, not done it on my Sony as yet (next thing to do soon) myself, but looking at it, thats about right.... :j0 -
Yep, Sony site says it's a 15 pin D sub + audio, so you will need a VGA (out from your PC) to your TV (again a VGA/D Dub), then a small phono plug to dual (white/red) leads to your tv).
Should work that way... Well, thats how i am gonna connect mine-up anyway...
Hope that helps.
