Hello, it's my DS1's 5th birthday towards the end of March and I've started to think about the party, what we'll do etc and I'd love some help with ideas for party bags/ end of party gifts.
I'd like my DS to give the children something but would like to avoid expensive bags of rubbish if possible! Going to need approx 30 gifts/bags.
Ideas I've had...
Bag with colour in printables (free online), felt tips (15p from Wilkos), chocolate/sweet something. birthday cake...
Book (feel this is a bit boring for 5 year olds?)
Party cup filled with sweets and wrapped in cello
Seen chocolate bars with personalised wrappers - thought I could make my own
See I need help
Thank you
Sorry, meant to say I think the theme will be Star Wars as DS1 is Star Wars mad!!!

one idea which has gone down well is to bulk buy a pencil case for each child (from ebay) then fill with very cheap stuff. Expect to pay about £1 per pencil case.
Another idea to reduce costs is to use the Lakeland sweet bags as the party bags not the expensive printed 'party theme' bags. That way you can spend more on quality contents.0 -
I normally use a party cup, whatever theme my son is in to. I usually fill them with a personalized choc bar, yoyo, joke card (just a joke printed on card - different one for each child but simple enough for them to read) party blow out, packet of haribo and what ever else i have lying about.
This year my ds1 Will be 7 and he is having a boys only party at the local ski centre, so I'm doing white paper party bags i got these not from that seller but the same thing. I am going to put a pack of match attax in, milkybar choc with personalized snow wrapper, toffee bonbons labeled as snow bombs thats as far as i have got. There are only 10 boys so i dont mind spending a little more than usual0 -
Thanks for the ideas! I've been thinking more about this today and I have come up with:
cake
small chocolate bar in personalised wrapper (it doesn't look difficult to do so going to give it a go)
Star Wars sticker
bouncy ball
glow stick or may make balloon swords during party to resemble lightsabers that children can take home
Thanks again! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Good idea!
Like the party cup idea too. I have always prided myself on my party bags being different, and that would be good - not seen anyone round here do that yet!
I normally wait for Tescos to reduce their £1 an item to 25p or 10p each and bulk buy then. Got really good writing sets for the girls and model airplanes for boys in the past - packs of 2 which I've then seperated!!!! Very MSE!!!
Then when lolly's or multipack sweets are on special offer I buy in advance and stash away!
A friend of mine who has a birthday near easter just buys everyone a mini easter egg each (the type that are 4 for £3 in poundland) and a piece of cake!0 -
My little brain has been buzzing with party ideas! I am thinking of doing milkshake powder in a cello cone with mini marshmallows (the multi-coloured ones) and a straw and call it 'Sith Shake' or 'Vader Shaker' (named after Star Wars characters!). Sort of similar to the famous snowman soup. What do you think? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

Our twin sons had a star wars / doctor who themed party (one homemade cake each - DH was in charge of converting a sponge to the Millennium Falcon). I'd got some mini light-stick key rings from Tesco in the sale that year, which worked out at about 26p each. I told the children they were light saber key rings and they were all very impressed. I don't know if anywhee has had anything similar this Christmas?
We've had multipacks of the propelling pencils from Poundland which work out at about 12p or less too.
Hope you all have lots of fun!0 -
My daughter had a circus party, they all dressed up in costumes. We had hotdogs and candy floss and a clown cake.
Played pin the nose on the clown etc and I put popcorn, a clown badge, blower, balloon , crackling candy, and birthday cake in there party bags.Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0 -

I like that idea too and we will have little prizes for pass the parcel etc. Thanks for the idea:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Its my sons 4th birthday next month and he's having a bolwing party. For the party bags i got a couple of the Mail (i think it was or was it the Mirror?) Lego sets that they did back in November time (i got a set of 12 as did my mum!) work out to 54p a set! So they'll have one of them each with some sweets and a piece of cake, althoguh he has today requested Star Wars party bags with Star Wars stickers in them, so i'm sat here scouring Ebay.
