Yep, best get some calor gas bottles up in the loft, along with my large amount of tins and pasta.:D

Would it be clever to store them in the loft, for health and safety reason? I don't know but keep my stash of campinggaz cylinders in the garage, which doesn't get hot inside even in summer.

I'm no expert on the calor gas bottles for heating, but wouldn't feel comfortable with more than 1 in the house, and certainly not a few in the loft, as some lofts can get pretty hot. Possibly safer than storing loads in the cellar though.
Don't store or use cylinders in cellars or below ground level. LPG is heavier than air and if there was an escape the gas will collect at low level, can be asphyxiate, and can become dangerous in the presence of a flame or spark.

Don’t subject a cylinder to heat as the pressure inside could build up to exceed the safe limit.

Building - Residential: Max LPG 15kg
Unless 60 minutes fire resisting separation is provided between the two occupancies with no direct access between, when up to 70kg may be stored.

    Detection of leaks
Cylinders should be inspected regularly forleakage. Never attempt to find a leak by means of a naked flame. Leakage can be detected by sense of smell, sound of escaping gas, or condensation or frosting around the leak. Soapy water can be brushed over the suspected source, and any bubbles that form confirm the leak.

If a cylinder is found to be leaking and the leak cannot be stopped by closing the valve, inserting the bung or fitting the cap, nearby sources of ignition must be extinguished. Move the cylinder carefully to a well ventilated open space clear of drains. Leave it with the leak (presumably at the valve) uppermost, marked as faulty, with notices prohibiting smoking and other naked lights. Inform the supplier immediately. No attempt should be made by an unqualified person to dismantle or repair faulty cylinder valves.

going way off topic, but i thought it good practice to store these outside, where gas can't accumulate?

When we were children, before everyone had central heating in their homes, we used paraffin heaters in every room. (Though reasonably effective, they are quite dangerous things, really, especially if there are children or other animals around, because such heaters are easy to knock over.)

My mother bought liquid paraffin in large metal bottles from an old man in an alleyway.

Is it still possible to use paraffin heaters and to obtain paraffin for them?

hmm, is conquering a gas rich country option to resolve gas crisis? after all, britain has nukes and can easily find excuse for the attack.. some countries "doubtlessly" will have some wmds for britain to take action.

Or, just like freezing icelandic assets, gordon may freeze some gas rich country's uk gas assets, etc etc.

    russia unfortunately is no iraq.

There is more risk of such resource rich countries having political changes and expropriating the assets of companies legally working there.

Additionally remote powers, unless prepared to use total force, even on civilians, can't these days project power in to other countries, without risk of significant losses, and daily risk of attack.

We could rule places like India in the past when we had the big-cannon and the machine guns, and the population had swords or a few small arms.

Even tin-pot powers have machine guns or access or knowledge to use damaging weapons like explosives, and a mind to hit invading powers in any way they can... from truck bombs to child suicide bombers.

I am moving to otter Scotland. I have found a nice little cave and shall live off the land as I for one am getting A) fed up of everything that is going on in the world, recession, hate and political domination. B) I have been watching to many episodes of survivors and think we are all going to turn into zombies at the time of the apocalypses.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

Please don't store them anywhere in the house.
My daughter lived near a gas storage depot. There was a fire in the next street and the cannisters in the depot started to explode. They shot into the sky like rockets, literally. You could here the noise miles away.
I would'nt even have those camping gas cannisters in my house, maybe an outside garage but the loft never.

    Yep, we had them too.

I remember there was quite a wide one in the hallway, green fronted thing with a cylinder thing inside it with a glass front so you could see the frame.

    ;)
