Yes, the question is, who is going to be the policeman and go in to sort it out? Huh? ... Russia maybethey cut off supply to ukraine for not paying their bill. this surely is right.
if ukraine starts stealing gas meant for europe through the pipes going through its territory and europe loses its gas, that would be theft, isn't itFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Putting pressure on Ukraine is part of it.
“Germany has 99 days of gas storage capacity, France has 122 days, while Britain has just 15 days,”
This is the stupid bit, someone has alot to answer for.
im not one to defend the government for their general incompetence or lack of infrastructure investment i suspect it will be because we control our own gas reserves in the north sea.0 -

maybe. but then they would just cut the gas supply off.its eurpoe then that will have to pressurise ukraine to pay the bills, maybe even 'loan' them the money.0 -
I'd like to know from someone in the business, but as I understood it, gas reserves in the North Sea are rapidly running out?im not one to defend the government for their general incompetence or lack of infrastructure investment i suspect it will be because we control our own gas reserves in the north sea.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Interesting thread.
I have a small joinery workshop and have spent the last 8 months searching for a "briquette " making machine for converting wood chip.Ideal for woodburners and carbon neutral.
I can fine new ones for between £7k- £12k ,new isnt practical because of volume of chips.I cant find a SH one for love nor money.
ANY IDEAS????;)
Im hoping to put a woodburner in soon to run along side gas, but after reading this thread I think i might go for a solid fuel boiler and be not be reliant , whilst feeling slightly pleased im doing my "bit" for the panet...
All timber used is from re-newable sources:rolleyes:0 -

A quick google shows briquette machines as basicly just a press, wouldnt you just be able to diy one with some welded metal plates a hinge and a long lever.
edit, you could do it even easier with a metal pipe to cut down on the welding0 -

I was in the business. As I understand it production in the UK sectors of the North Sea peaked in 2000 and is now in decline. By 2010 the UK will need to import almost half its gas used domestically. As I understand pipelines from the the Continent and Norway and LNG terminals for shipped gas will supply increasing UK imports and increased storage is projected.0
