A lot of own brand pop as well as Fanta, Tango and Lilt use aspartame (and other artificial sweeteners).
The reason is that artificial sweetener is cheaper than sugar.
Then they have the gall to say something like "Now with 30% less sugar" like it's a good thing!.....0 -
I only buy asda branded fizzy pop and squash as they don't contain aspartame, it's evil stuff and gives me migraines. I've also noticed that heinz ketchup is runnier, it used to be really hard getting it out of the bottle now it' flows out!!0

and if you confront them abotu this, they will say that dow to surveys and public demand, that the consumer wanted a more smoother 'thinnner' consistancy:rolleyes:Work to live= not live to work0 -

I've found this with the Asda own brand and smart price ketchup as well, plus wide neck bottles with the SP stuff so it's difficult to get a small amoutn out at the time. However, OH and I have thwarted them, we bought one of those plastic tomato shaped squuezy containers so the ketchup is more containable now.0 -
Whole Earth is by far the best peanut better, I love the stuff. I just wait until it's on offer and stock up.
I agree about Whole Earth - best peanut butter and the organic one is good too."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

My dad is convinced that the price war on tins of roses, quality street and miniature heroes that sent the price of big tins down to under a fiver was done by substituting cheaper chocolates for more expensive ones and/or reducing the number of the more expensive sweets in each tin.
I personally don't buy these tins, and have no idea if this is the real reason or not, but I know my dad's not the only one who is miffed that miniature heroes no longer contain crunchies or picnics! :rotfl:0 -
Silvercharming - there was a radio programme on our local radio just before Christmas commenting that Cadbury's had bowed to rising costs and replaced the more expensive Heroes with cheaper ones, so your Dad is probably right.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
