Tell which network a number is on?

don't go there... this has been a problem since number portability came along and OFCOM as it was when I complained just ignored me. So any number could have been ported to any network.
To my mind you should on all networks be able to opt into a service where (if you have a tarriff that charges differently by network) it announced before charging you a higher rate. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

sounds like a good idea - similar to the message Orange do when you dial a "freephone" numberSid_Harper wrote: »To my mind you should on all networks be able to opt into a service where (if you have a tarriff that charges differently by network) it announced before charging you a higher rate.0 -
Easiest way is to go into each of the mobile networks shops and say "is this one of your customers"?

However as has been mentioned, no good for numbers that have been ported across, as the database only knows the original network the number was assigned to.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
