Yeah, I can imagine. Is it this weekend you go? If so, I'd be tempted to just walk out of the door at 5pm (or whatever normal finishing time is) and s0d it. You've made your boss aware there is an issue, he isn't really doing much about it and holidays are precious.

I'm with Gwen, do what you can and leave them to it at 5pm. Maybe boss-person will spend the week realising how much you have on your plate and how indispensible you are ... ;)

Exactly ! Leave when you should be leaving Shoe Gal, said it before lol Specially since your not paid overtime, if they realise they cant work without you (which theyll find out with you going home at the right time and going on hol) thatll give them a shake.

    Hey SG,

Sounds like you are very much in need of your pending holiday. Yay to the bday celebrations....me too this weekend!

I'm assuming if you leave work early, whatever is left will still be there for you to do in the morning?? Tough one, maybe have another chat to boss??

    Take care,

    xxx

Yeah, it's a tricky one. I used to find that if I left on time and therefore left with lots of things still to do, I'd sit at home thinking 'I have that to do tomorrow...and that....and that'. That became more stressful than working late, so I decided to just stay until I'd gotten most things done, but then once you start doing that it's hard to stop again.

Shoe Gal - Maybe have another word with your boss and try and negotiate? So if he wants to take all your most interesting work off you, maybe make it clear that you enjoy that work and really want to succeed with it and that you are willing to lose some[I/] of the more interesting work to have a better work/life balance, but you would like to hold onto X and Y, say. Maybe pick the stuff that'll really stand out for you? It's difficult, I've been in the same position and unfortunately because a very stressful and busy period at work coincided with a family member being ill and needing me, I had to give up the interesting work or I was seriously worried for my mental health, so I know that it can then be difficult to get those really interesting projects again.

I am feeling really low and I know I need to get myself together  Work has been rubbish again this week, I am getting nowhere! Despite being on a days leasve today I have had several calls

It's all getting on top of me and I feel really cr*p :o

Everything feels a mess - and so much effort, I am so tired. Am supposed to be going out tomorrow for my birthday, and then to Spain on Thursday and I can't face any of it

Oh no! So cross about them calling you when you are off. A friend of mine had that when we were on a mini-break and it was all nonsense, not even some super-important emergency or anything. They were just too carp to deal on their own... I don't know if that is the same with you but it just isn't on. Maybe you should tell them you want to get a half day leave back as they called you while you were off so you were working?? You certainly deserve it!

Are you going to chill out tonight?

I hope you feel more up for it tomorrow, would be a shame for all this to affect your birthday.

Maybe while you are on hols you can come back with a mega-plan to deal with work. And maybe the awful truth is that you need to start looking elsewhere??

Anyway have a fab night tomorrow.

I've got the film '27 dresses' from Lovefilm which i'm gonna watch tonight and have a complete chill out time!!!!:j
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

(((((hugs))))) and  for Shoegal methinks! You are obviously totally indispensible and therefore need a promotion, payrise and Personal Assistant. Early to bed tonight then you might feel more like a night on the tiles tomorrow?
