Loading Longer Threads

I've noticed a few times recently that loading longer threads can be a problem if I have the CP set to load 40 posts per page.
I've tried a few settings recently, and have noticed the following.........
40 posts per page. A lot of problems with loading longer threads. Quite often (75%), I have to refresh the page 3 or 4 times before the last few posts at the bottom of the thread load.
30 posts per page. Better, but I still have to refresh the page once approx 50% of the time.
20 posts per page. No problems.
The index pages (main, and board index pages) load OK no matter which setting I have.
I know I've found a way around this loading problem, but it is a bit annoying on longer threads having to keep going to the next page. I use other forums, and I've not noticed this problem on them.
FYI............I use Firefox always for this site. Zen 2Mb connection.

I've never had this problem. I view 40 posts/page and there is never a problem for me.
Perhaps it is something to do with Firefox. Does it do it in IE or another browser?0
