i didnt say that he could buy ONE thing for £499...i meant iff he wanted bits and bobs he would have to keep the value under that amount, otherwise he will have to tell the catalogue he has a dro..
You didn't say more then one thing either. "Just as long as you don't purchase anything over £499" is what you said. I was just making the point.
As for catalogues doing credit checks alot often do. Next are notorious for it. One week you can have a limit of 1k, they do a check and it plummets without warning.
My advice is air on the side of caution.0 -

I realised yesterday I might have a problem. Next June there's a possibility I might be coming in to £1,200. And it'll likely be publicised as well, so there's a chance I won't be able to hide it from the OR.
It's a bet I made with William Hill this year about losing a certain amount of weight by next year. If i'm successful, the payout is as i said - £1,200.
I do owe my mum half of that before i even do anything, but i'm wondering if it's worth holding off on the DRO until after that happens?0 -
I would very much doubt the OR will be scouring newspapers etc looking for someone on a DRO that has won money, Why not owe your mum 300 more..?
I have 2 disagree with the above I'm afraid. I wouldn't advise trying 2 hide anything from the OR........& do remember that in reality u should list all your debts on a DRO.....including those 2 your mumI am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -
I still think u r missing the point.............if he owes his mum say £600......she is a creditor 2 be included in the DRO.......however u choose 2 wrap it up, all debts HAVE 2 be included, remember should this come 2 light after the DRO is approved it could be revoked or restrictions put in place......tbh, I think it must be a very difficult position 2 be inI am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0

Also thinking back 2 my own applications 1 of the questions was if I believed my circumstances were likely 2 change in the next 12 mths & if I was expecting a lump sum payment in the next 12 mths........he could not answer no 2 these questions as that would make the application invalid...........surely?I am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0

Well no because at the time of applying, he can't be sure he would win..?. What if he didn't..?
Would be a hard one to second guess i suppose. Maybe a call to the I.S would help.0 -

But wot if he does? Only he knos how likely he is 2 reach his goal weight & if he'll reach it in the "designated" time frame 2 win his bet. But I personally wouldn't risk not declaring it if I were 2 win £1200 nor would I advise any1 2 try 2 hide their windfall. IMHO I believe the risks are 2 gr8, I certainly wouldn't want 2 run the risk of having mine revoked......& isn't it just another type of fraud?.....knowingly not disclosing a windfall/change in circumstances?I am a Leo...& as such I will defend my "pride" ferociously....you have been warned!0 -

As i said, you can't be certain till the day arrives. As i also said he could call the I.S and ask if he really wants to.0 -
