Hi all. im looking at doing a debt relief order very soon, im just waiting for my tax credits award letter as its only a provisional one at the moment, when they eventually send this then im ready to apply for it. can someone tell me tho, I have read on this forum that you need a copy of your credit file, now I have free access to mine but on Equifax and not experian. will a copy of my credit file from equifax be ok? I mean, it should be the same right? should i request it now or does it need to be totally up to date? i.e if i get it today and my debt relief order goes through in 4 weeks, would the report be outdated? thanks

hi hazza......i think equifax should be fine as long as all your debts are listed.......you will need to update it on the day preferably that your dro gets submitted, iff not then your creditors will more than likely add more interest on and iff your AI only gives them the balances that you tell them now then you will be responsible for any extra interest.......iff that extra interest then takes you over the £15000 then your dro will be revoked so please make sure this doesnt happen....good luck...:)

thanks for the reply scarlet55, ok so i shall leave it till the day then, my debts are about 11k so unless my tax credits letter takes a year to come through ( which is quite possible knowing them ) then i should be ok. one more thing, I have read through all this forum but im slightly unsure about my car - its a 51 corsa worth about £1200 but under 1k if poor condition. I did read that they check parkers which only goes back to 52 reg so can i assume i should be ok with my car?? thanks

iv no idea about the car sorry but im sure one of the experts will be along if not 2night 2morrow and they will answer that for you....you will still need to know roughly wot your total debt is b4 you see ur adviser....they will then tell u to get a full balance when you go to have it submitted....mine went thru 10 weeks ago and i cant tell you how relieved you will feel....:)

Do your car valuation based on poor condition and you will be fine.

Should be, but usually aren't :D I'm an AI, and I'd ask for a recent copy of an Experian report, as that's what the IS check.

How much is your car worth? Is it in poor condition? You need to be truthful, and you'll be fine :)
