  • Thank you everyone for your help but my friend has decided to cancel her dro as apparently even though her inheritance came through 13 months ago AND that all of it has gone it WILL have an impact on whether the dro is approved or not. Luckily it hadn't been submitted yet so it has been cancelled once and for all.

    Thank you once again.

I'm sorry she felt unable 2 go ahead, but I hope she spoke 2 her AI & talked it through with them & discussed all available options. Although a DRO wasn't the way forwards 4 her perhaps they could point her in the right direction. I wish her well, whatever she decides 2 do :)

Thank you both I will pass on your messages to her :)

She is seeing her advisory in the coming weeks to go through her options and hopefully between them they can come to some sort of arrangement in order to help her.

    Thanks once again.
  • Hello All

This is my first post however ive been lurking about for a while this site is such a great source of advice and information.

I had my DRO approved last month my first question is am i supposed to let my creditors know or does the or do this?

secondly i have just received my p60 and it looks like i could have some tax to claim back is this something that i need to inform the or about or not?

Im a bit confused about it all and i guess if im honest still a bit shocked and numb about the whole thing it was not a route i ever thought i would find myself taking and now i just want to make sure i do everything right

Thanks in advance for any advice :0)

hi..first of all you dont need to let your creditors know, the or will do that...in fact iff it was last month then they probably know by now.....not sure about your tax rebate..i know you have to inform them if there is a change in your income but as its a one off payment i suppose it depends how much it is for...i would ring the adviser who dealt with your dro, but i'd wait to see how much you get first..

The DRO unit will inform your creditors - your intermediary may also do this (I would)

The tax refund may cause a problem if it is takes your assets over £300. I believe there is a letter in the DRO toolkit that your intermediary has access to that informs the DRO Unit if this happens but asks for the DRO not to be revoked. The final decision might depend on how large the lump sum is compared to your debts.
  • Thanks Scarlett

Will wait and see how much i get I will have to ring the OR anyway as my child tax credits are going down all good fun :0)
