Any advice welcome. I'm in receipt of full HB & CTB. If groceries look high, it's because my son is on food supplements & I didn't know where to include them.

Oooopss re-post without the debts...lol sorry should have said. Although at first glance i would say your gas an elec is high. I am single with a son and although i do not have gas, i only pay £50 for electric per month, so i would assume you could get that down. Landline telephone looks rather steep. Mine is £26 or so a month including broadband. Mobile is astronomical (is that spelt right...lol) i would certainly look at getting that down. Is your son on food supplements for a medical reason..? if not then this should be looked at as your monthly grocery figure is pretty high. Mine is around £200. Other travel..? What is that for..? £40 emergency fund..?

Wait till Fat, Immoral or WBA come along as they will know the trigger figures etc and see what they say.

I have arrears with gas/elec & water, so I'm paying extra each week to reduce the outstanding balances. The land line & mobile I have tried to reduce but have over 15 mths left on both contracts (2 mobiles) + 14 mths left on the LL with small arrears which I'm paying towards each month to reduce. I know the groceries are high! I've included everything I buy ie. cleaning/toiletries/pet food etc. I kept every receipt for the last mth thinking I had miscalculated & with 4 days left until a full mth is up, I'm not far off at all. The food supplements are an issue, my son is in a rugby academy & we are expected to provide everything from sportswear - gym membership- food supplements & he has to follow aq very strict diet. It could lead to him been choosen to play for England, which would obviously be a great honour & pride both for my son & myself, but it is crippling my finances. He has been using his EMA to assist with off setting these costs, but that will be stopping in June, what then?! I have tried to get some help with funding but have had every door slammed in my face. It may be that he has to leave, but until June I'm keeping mum. It would devastate him. I'll have another look at my figures, thanks for the advice.

As i said wait till Fat, Immoral and WBA come along. You can get the mobile and utilities included in a dro. I am not sure with regards to food supplements etc if there is not a medical reason behind it. I suspect you would be expected to stop paying those straight away. Where that then leaves you we will have to see.
  • Thanks, I appreciate your help. I don't have arrears on the mobiles so I don't think I can include them as a debt..........can I? I underdstand your point with the utilities going on a DRO, that would give me a helping hand. Thanks again x

You need to check. The letter from DWP should explain. It sounds like you might be losing a premium. Is your DLA award OK?

I'm sure that you will be OK re the £50 surplus rule. As you mentioned earlier, DLA should be shown as an 'in' and an 'out' on the DRO application. Your supplements would be covered by that.

All the arrears must be included in the application. That shouldn't be a problem.

Your AI will sort out the fine detail. Are you using CCCS?

Well I've re jiggled where I thought I could genuinely manage. The original transport costs were wrong, I'm sorry about that. I'd included my transport costs which I know pay for out of my DLA. I wait for advice/comments with baited breath! I have mabe a phone call to IS. :T Orville. They said that it must have been sent out in error & not to worry about it. I also tried calling the CCCS DRO line as advised, but no luck getting through yet. I may consider NDL yet, if it still remains difficult to contact CCCS. I am totally out of my depth with dealing with this I'm afraid. So please if you feel you can help, please do so. Thankyou in advance.

    Hi,
Thanks for your help. I have sorted the IS out, apparently it was sent in error.
I'm unsure what the right plan of action is for me to take, so I posted on here hoping to pick some brains
All I know is that at the moment I am literally selling the clothes off my back & the shoes off my feet to try & keep afloat!
My son is 17 now, so I'm not sure whether or not to class him as an adult on my SOA?! He certainly eats as an adult & obviously he's in adults clothes & shoes (& still growing!) Thanks.
