  • I've found enough hair bobbles on the street to keep me going for a year & also found a nail file, this was very useful as I couldn't afford to buy one at the time, never found any food though.

I thought the program was insulting to people who are in poverty or homeless, really. The implication being that if they just got off their backsides they could be living in a palace.

I found the programme very simplistic and totally unrealistic, of course a nice white middle class well spoken person with a camera entourage following him would find enough interest among people to be able to live like this for two weeks, everybody wants their vicarious 15 minutes of fame don't they?

Also I was a bit alarmed by the previous programme, the one about the tightest person in Britain. The presenter was making out things to be outrageous, like "OHMYGOD use the teabag 3 times/shop only for stickered goods/reuse the silver foil so many times" - these are all things I actually do! Does it mean I am a weirdo and a mean person? Or is the programme biased in favour of unashamed consumerism? (Rhetorical question:rotfl: ).
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I think a programme by the ex-tv presenter who was found on hard times (sorry, cant remember who he was, from Brighton?) would have been very interesting - and give us an inside on how it REALLY is.

If you mean Ed Mitchell, there's a programme on about him tonight, ITV 8pm.
Featuring the former ITN newsreader Ed Mitchell, who found himself a homeless alcoholic after losing his job and his home. The programme-makers follow Ed as he tries to kick the habit and rebuild his life. Along the way, Ed has to cope with the death of friend and former colleague Carol Barnes, and salvage his relationships with his family, but the temptation of alcohol is always there.
