Cheapest Network/Tarrif for a heavy user urgently needed

Options
I'm currently with Orange on a crazy Talk Share, which my father took out years ago but we're out of contract so I'm free to move and I'm taking over my phone so I'd like cheaper bills. At present, I have lots of minutes but no free texts so my bills average £170-200 per month.

The best deal I've found is with O2 who offered me a Samsung Z320i with 750 X net anytime mins and 750 texts for £35. Is this a good deal and are there better deals? I've looked at the usual lot but I can't find a better deal.

I phoned Orange but after keeping me on the phone for about half an hour playing me hold music, their best deal was 500 X net and 500 texts for £45. The Orange guy said that he couldn't match the deal from O2 and agreed that I'd be mad to stay with Orange! Are they actively trying to lose customers? Yet, he said because I'm a heavy user, I could have any phone I want. I'm really not bothered about the handset but I urgently need to get my bill down.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

  • Hi there
The offer you got from o2 may need some clarification as all i can see on there site for that may minutes and texts is the 18 month contract which is Online Off peak 500 750 xnet 750texts £25.00 pm this is a 3 month booster i think from the package of online 500 500xnet and 500 texts so after 3 months it drops to just 500 of each for £25 pm but they are only off peak calls so no good to you during peak times as you will be billed additionally.
Just check it out again before accepting it as it may not be the correct deal you are after

o2's imode tariff is 35.00 per month for either 1000 xnet mins and 150 texts or 750 xnet and 750 texts.
  • I have spoken to O2 and the guy assured me that it is not off-peak. My friend is also with them on the same deal and she confirmed that it is any network anytime. There is also a cooling off period of 14 days so I think it's a pretty good deal. It is an 18mth contract but I don't mind that as I just want the phone to text and call.

    Thanks for all the advice.

The deal is Online 500 with a Samsung Z320i or NEC 411i with an 18 mth contract. I phoned O2 up as I also orginally thought they only did Online Off-peak 500 but he said that it's anytime. My friend is very happy with her contract and she hasn't paid a penny more.
