  • Well done Stroppy!

I have a really dry mouth and a slight headache which is all part of the detox I guess. Keep drinking water and OJ which means I'm running to the loo every 5 minutes! Also have a bad taste in my mouth.

The coughing up is disgusting but quite motivating. I had a really bad cold before I quit so still have some remnants of that which is probably helping me clear my lungs out more quickly.

I also have a nasty taste in my mouth a lot of the time but I'm still not getting through as much mouthwash as I used to when I smoked.

I'm glad that Spring is on the way as it makes it so much easier to get out and about in the fresh air rather than being stuck indoors with irritable bored children.

morning all reading through the latest posts broght it all back, the how will i cope with no outlet when stressed  ,will i eat my own bodywieght in chocolate:eek: ,you do cope ,and no i didn't eat all that much chocolate, the reason i give up when i did is when i did my shopping online patches were on offer:o for months i had been saying i will stop and half price patches pushed me to stop:o .i told no one i didn't want the oh blaming everything on not smoking.{leaves shoes in middle of floor yet again}oh your only moaning because of no ciggs:mad: so he and my daughters were none the wiser, hubby still saw cigs, ash trays with butts, etc so blissfully unaware i wanted to rip his head of and use as a football. it is almost a year now and i can say i am a non smoker how great is that:j :j

I weigh 6lbs more than I did before I stopped

    Thats over a 1lb a day

Thing is I dont like celery, raw carrotts, etc .....but I do like sweets and nuts!
    Must tackle this overeating next.......:o
  • Don't worry about the weight Stroppy. You'll get used to not smoking soon and won't need to replace cigs with something else. Try to offset the eating by getting out for lots of walks, spring cleaning, re-organising cupboards etc. Also sometimes when you think you need food what you really need is a drink - you get more thirsty when you quit. Try to drink things that you don't associate with fags or chocolate during the day such as water or orange juice. I have really cut down on my tea and coffee - just a couple of cups a day now.

I'm not thinking about smoking that often (in fact the thought of smoking makes me feel a bit queasy which may be because of the patches) but I do feel that something's missing and that life is a bit more boring than usual - this hits me most in the evenings and this weekend.

We went out with the children today and it was good to get out of the house even though the weather suddenly turned wicked on us - left the house when it was warm and sunny and suddenly a gale blew up and froze our socks off and then it started hailing

Couldn't wait to get my patch on this morning and so far so good!!

Haven't had any mad cravings yet, which is good :T
and haven't really had that missing something feeling.
Not had any little voices yet either..........

In fact so far its not been half as bad as i'd imagined it to be!!! :j

I know its not even been a day yet, but i really thought i would be suffering greatly, and turn into a complete and utter cowbag!!

The kids are getting on my nerves a little, but then again they would do that when i smoked too!!

Will check in with you later for a quick update.

To everyone who have not smoked today...
Well done!!! stay strong! we will be smoke free :j

If anyone reading this is wanting to stop but feeling the fear, please please go for it! like me it might not be half as bad as you imagine it to be, or even remember it to be, everyones quit will differ and even your own quit will be different from the last, you can do it too x

Well done everyone....another day down and all that :-)
Im off to bed in a minute as find the evenings the hardest....I just sit here feeling lost and not knowing what to do with myself!Had a big snap at OH earlier and he told me off saying its not his fault ive smoked for 20 years and not to take it out on him and kids....good point I suppose!
Bedtime is now not my favourite part of the day as I cant sleep without waking up every half hour,I even awoke at 7.30 this morning!....and for some reason my 'toilet' habits have changed....ahem ...I now need to 'go' at 1.30 every night, how odd!
Never been a big one for excercise probably cos ive smoked since I was 13 and even used to fake my mums signature to get me out of P.E.....I hated sport and was always rubbish at it,Looking forward to weather warming up so I can at least potter in the garden.
Anyway im glad the weekend is over and got meeting with fresh start guy tomorow so will get to blow in that little carbon monoxide measurer thingy, which im quite excited about :rotfl:
Take care all and well done

    I can't do it!!!

I can't get get past that point where I can completely stop. I am down to 3 a day from 20 (for 35 years ) but I could cry 'cos I really don't seem to be able to take that final leap.

I did this last time I tried to stop as well. I am pleased that I have got down to 2/3 but so angry with myself for not being able to actually finally stop.

Still tomorrow is another day so maybe I will do it then?

Thanks TismE and well done on your first day!my reading was 15....he didnt explain what that meant though, think my pharmacist is a bit crap tbh!
I had an inhalor for the first day which was great and definitely helped me break that tearful giving upafter a few hours thing I did whenever I tried to quit before, it gave me a sore tongue thoughplus sue recommended i didnt become too dependant on it and so on the second day I thought id try without it,ive now been cold turkey since then....kind of figure it would be pointless to go back to it now?!
Today has been the best day by far....its still mainly the evenings that are getting to me though.
Amerilate - Have you been to docs?sorry remember reading some of your posts but cant remember what you are on if anything?
