Advice needed on 7 seaters
Comments

I know you said a 7 seater, but if you have 3 children (like me) have you considered a Citroen Picasso as, unlike the Scenic, all 3 back seats are the same size - you could fit all the car seats in. - Only a thought....0

I read somewhere that the new Ford Galaxy comes out in June and will be bigger than the existing one easily seating 7 plus latge boot. Also the rear seats will fold flat into the floor like the Zafira.
If you are looking for a new car, it might be worth waiting on this , or alternatively picking up one of the old style models on the cheap0 -
I have a galaxy and love it, big enough for the kids and a double buggy but not so big that it is a nightmare to park. My brother has a seat which is a lot cheaper than the galaxy but has exactly the same engine ect just hasn't got the things like rear and front parking sensors/ tinted windows/ rear heater that come as standard on the galaxy but are extra on the seat. Also the vw sharron is very similiar just personal choice between them. I did have a renault mpv on hire when mine was being serviced but it was awful, had so many blind spots that reversing it was a nightmare. I find that the mpg I get is also more than my DH audi TT.
One thing to consider is tyre wear my galaxy is a 03 and have just had its third set of front tyres fitted and it has only done 26K...AHHHHHH!!!0 -
We have a Touran which is great for us 2 adults and 4 kids (eldest 9 years, youngest 6 months). I'd recommend it if you only need to use 6 seats as we get 2 large suitcases and a buggy in the car and 6 of us. You can squeez an umbrella double buggy in the boot when all 7 seats are in use.
We bought the Touran because
1 it's a diesel and we buy onr diesel in Calais at 1 Euro a litre
2 it does an average of 55 mpg when fully loaded
3 it cost us only 11500 new at https://www.drivethedeal.co.uk (cheaper than Zafira)
4 it passes 5 star NCAP rating with loads of air bags
5 it has loads more spec on the basic model than the comparable Zafira and G Scenic
6 it is group ?5 insurance only £350 per year fully comp (including childminder
premium)
7 it holds its value better than other 7 seaters
8 It seats me in the very back seats relatively comfortably and I'm 158cm
9 It has 7 independent sliding and removable seats unlike the Zafira
We know some day that the kids will be too big to fit in comfort with luggage and we can only think of something like the Renault Grand Espace to give us more space - the Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra/Ulysee/C8/807/Sedona/Espace/Voyager give more passenger space but not much more luggage space. The Grand Voyager is just too thirsty on fuel for us. I do like the sound of the new Ford Galaxy though.0 -
we have the VW Sharan Carat. Its fantastic. We dont need all the seats so at the back there is just one full sized seat as we took the other out so we have plenty of space for shopping/pram. So much space that you dont even need to fold down the pram, you can just shove it in. Our other car is an Alfa Romeo 147. Not so good for kids or fuel but it is fun!:heart2:I have a child with autism.:heart2:0

You may not be aware but the VW Sharan, the Ford Galaxy and the Seat (not sure of the name) are all basically the same model with different trim. The VW tends to be a lot cheaper than the Ford for some reason, and the best I've managed to get from ourdiesel 1.9ltr (it has a little trip computer in the dash) was 52mpg on a trip from Leeds to Penrith - fully loaded with 3 kids...am I missing something ??0

We need a 7 seater that still gives enough boot space for a double buggy and a large suitcase(at least!).
Ideally a automatic would be good so that we can share driving(hubby only has auto license).
Want something economical as will be doing school run which is twisting lanes and up hill, but we often do motorway runs too.
I like the look of a zafira but from looking in one it looks to cramped and no one over 8 would be able to sit in the back!
Hubby likes the toyoua lucidas etc but i dont like the seat plan in the back row very much.
What do we do!!! I currently have a scenic but you cant fit 3 babys in their seats in the back - nightmare on family outings!!
All help appreciated....... :j
My cousin has an Espace. She loves it. Not only do they fit in all the children, and grandparents, buggies, scooters etc, but also manage to take hoards of camping equipment as well, eg, tent, sleeping bags and blowup beds for all, tables, cooking equipment, teddies, toys and enough food for a weeks stay. They also have a bike rack fitted on back with 4 bikes on.
I've never heard her complain about lack of space in it !keep smiling,

if anyone has a decent 505 spare please pm me!;)!!!!!!!!
we send some kids on the bus and use the car for the rest.Badly need a 7 seater but on inc.ben and low wage.We used to have a 205 for 2 adults,3 teens and 2 tots but now have a cavalier.
those of you with 7 seaters....treasure them.Prices here in north wales are ridiculous. And before anyone says you can't put a price on safety ...some of us have too!Every day above ground is a good one0 -
Like the previous post - prices are rediculous here in west wales. a h reg espace with over 200,000 miles is still a £1200!!!!
Will definatly travel to buy a new car.
We buy a car from away use it for a year and then sell it locally and make a profit!0
