New Year's Day 1/01/09 What small dfw things have you done today???

:DWhen we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today i will:
  • menu plan for the rest of the week
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • check online banking
  • get some curry/rice out freezer for OH to take to work
  • update storecupboard inventory to add on all the tins of biscuits, xmas cakes, chocs etc we have been given over xmas
  • make time to go swimming
  • start all new spending diaries and spreadsheets:j
  • reduce. reuse or recycle at least one item - today's item rehoming blender to friend:D
  • Do one thing just for fun,
  • sparkle, :D
Welcome to 2009 everyone, hope you all aren't suffering too much with hangovers;)
Not much planned here today, expect it will be quiet mostly until DD returns home from her friends shortly with a guaranteed hangover, and will have to be hustled out to stables to see to her horse before she can collapse in a heap for most of the day.
OH will be sleeping off his night shift so between them both there won't be much rivetting company here just lots of snoring:rotfl:
Enjoy your day everyone, catch up with you all later:D

Reduce,re-use, recycle.

Morning........HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!! (very excited about New Year and the fresh start)

    Today I will/have........
    * Checked online banking - my pay (due tomorrow) is there. As I am paid weekly, and I have set my budget on 4 weekly paypackets, and there are 5 Friday's (payday) in January, I am going to move £100 into my bank account (emergency funds), and withdraw the remaining for a college course that I need to go on in February
    * checked Quidco - I have been waiting for £110 since April
    * sow veggie seeds
    * checked lotto website - won £10 :j ....that pays for 5 weeks lottery
    * I will make up a spreadsheet showing a spending diary and 'free' money (wombled tesco points, interest, overtime, quidco money etc)
    * read the last couple of days on this thread

I wanted to say thanks to Sophiesmum for starting this thread, and thanks to everyone else on this thread (you make me laugh)

    Take care

Hopefully everyone had a lovely time and is feeling positive about the year ahead. I have made my plans for 2009 and posted them on my thread - I make plans not resolutions as resolutions get broken :rotfl:

Anyway, today I have done/will do:

    • [STRIKE]Check online banking[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Make PAD[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Check Quidco[/STRIKE] Now showing as over £20 in tracked money. Woo!
    • Check Onepoll for surveys
    • Washing
    • [STRIKE]Take out something yummy for dinner from the freezer[/STRIKE]
    • Tidy living room and put unneeded carp into a box for Ebay
    • Sort out dry washing and put away in drawers HSwash.gif
    • Use sorting out of washing as an excuse to evaluate what clothes I do and don't need for the year ahead - time to clear some space!
    • Go to the pictures with my free cinema card and remind t'other half to bring his student card
    • Take half price sweets bought from Woolies closing down sale to the pictures
    • List some more books on Amazon
    • Sell some CDs on music magpie
I think that's quite a list for one lazy day :D I'll pop back in later and let you know if I have done anything from the list :rotfl:
