Hi Can anyone help me?

Is there any way of unlocking my V3 which is currently locked onto the o2 network?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

  • You can do it in 4 ways.

    1) Pay o2 for the unlock code.
    2) Take it to sunday market and pay £15.
    3) Use the USB Cable and download suitable unlocking software and pay £15 for 1 credit.
    4) Download firmware flashing software & just flash the phone with the latest unlocked firmware.

Depends on how brave you are. I unlocked mine using option 4 last year after a bit of googling to find out what i needed.

Have you actually tried another SIM in the phone? I did not think that O2 or Vodafone locked their supplied phones (they certainly didn't lock the ones they supplied to my company).

The other networks (Orange & T-Mobile) do lock their respective phones.

I bought 3 o2 v3`s before christmas and they were all locked.

O2 do NOT lock their contract phones, but lock their pay as you go phones.
    My reality check bounced.

Can 02 tell if you sold your contract phone? I mean if someone buys your old contract phone because you've bought a new one and just kept your contract sim card and the new owner adds a PAYG 02 sim card and registers it, will 02 be able to tell?
  • I bought a Nokia 6030 and Motorola V3 from O2 on PAYG - they were both locked.

The Nokia was easy to unlock, but having difficulty with the V3.

they may be able to tell but it doesnt matter as long as you keep paying the contract.
a lot of people will get the latest phone on contract just to sell on for a bit of cash and just keep the sim in their old phone

Pay the money to have it unlocked M8 it's your best bet.

.....if you don't know what you are doing you can quite easily render your phone useless trying to flash it!
