i drove to my local tesco extra (solihull) as soon as i read this thread as i am after a laptop and they have got one on display and one boxed but the price is £498. I told them that i heard that the price now is £449 but they denied any knowledge of the discount. Actually they phoned another branch (Redditch) infront of me and they confirmed the price of £498. I bought the boxed one as it was the last one but i could do with £50 saving to upgrade the RAM to 512mb. Can any one confirm if they bought it for £449 and from which branch??? as i might go back tomrrow and negotiate a £50 refund....thanks.

The company I work for bought 6 acer laptops last time they had them in Tesco. Since then, most have suffered from various problems, including: failed track pads, failed ram and strange griding noises coming from the hard drive! We won't be buying anymore.

You get what you pay for, stick with HP, Dell or Fujistu and you should be ok.

For £60 more I was lucky enough to get an HP ZD7170EA direct from them (on ebay).
    Pentium 4HT 3.2GHz
    80 GB HDD
    512MB RAM
    DVD Rewriter
    XP Home
    802.11g Wireless
    NVidia GeForce 128MB Graphics
    17" TFT
    etc.
They also provide a VAT receipt and so I'm VAT registered it worked out at £647.
I paid for it Friday and it's coming Monday - great service!
    Can I help?

Run don't walk to your nearest Tesco Extra as they have apparently marked down this Acer laptop to only £398.40! That is an unbelievable bargain for these specs including a 1.6GHz Pentium M and DVDRW drive.

    Specs:
    # 1.6GHz Pentium M
    # 256Mb DDR II
    # 40Gb ATA/100 HDD
    # DVD-RW Dual Layer.
    # 15.4'' WXGA.
    # Wi-Fi

Check it out. Only available in store!!!
    Regards

    Sandy
