Can someone please give me some advice.
My mum has her gas and eletric via british gas, and all was well until about a month ago.. She has had to top up her gas with a total of £90 since 26th December!!!!
It's only her living in a 2 bed maisonette and works till 6pm, and has never had a problem..
Called British gas to tell them there is something wrong with the meter, to which they replied 'No there isn't, it's correct and you are using that amount of gas!' Then they proceed to transfer her to the energy saver advisor! They will not send anyone out as they said it would show up on the meter if there was a fault and are basically ignoring her.
How can we get them to take notice about this??

I dont have much advice, but there is obviously something wrong there!!! If they wont send anyone out, threaton to change providers and i'm sure they will then take notice. Thats just far too much for one person!!!:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0

Is she keeping the heating on all night?
The only other thing to do would be to call Transco on 0800 111 999 and tell them you think you have a gas leak because your bills are so high. They will send someone round to check the gas and the meter.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

You really need to give more information for people to help.
Type of Meter for gas and electricity? Meter readings? payment method? Is she in debt?0 -
i had my electric meter changed yesterday as the dial was spinning very fast and i only had the lights & tv on. British Gas man said that all meters should be changed every 7-10 years as they become faulty and do not give accurate readings like any old scales.0

She is prepayment, I don't know the readings but British gas said she is in £60+ credit!?

To put a perspective on this, my gas bill for this last winter quarter was £150, which is for a 3 bed detatched in N Scotland and keeping the heating on 24/7 at about 22 degrees.
There is something wrong there somewhere0
