It may have escaped your notice but the £ is starting to creep up against the $ .
now nearly $1.58 which is about a 16% increase in 2 months .

We normally tip $2-$3 on picking up the car...but I know some people only tip $1...some tip more, but I think $2-3 is pretty much average.

Wow, really holding up the US perception of the UK folks being mean tippers!

I know this is a money saving forum, but tipping anyone apart from a bar tender less than $5 is pretty much an insult.

I usually tip bell boys $10 for bringing bags to my room, $5 for pretty much anything else (apart from food - 15% minimum, and bar tenders, $1-2 per drink)

Well, I'm American...I just live here - not sure if that makes me UK folk or not...and most Americans I know tip the valet $2-$3...so...I also know a valet in Vegas (guy I went to high school with) who regularly gets nothing (from Americans and those coming from abroad)...he doesn't see $2-$3 as an insult at all, he sees it as a lot more than many people tip.

I think this may be the first time in 8 years I've been called out for being a bad tipper by anyone in the UK. ;)

    Also, according to vegas.com - $1-$2.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

We most of my trips have been on bmi direct from MAN, but as they no longer go I am limited in my experience.

I would add American Airlines, United and KLM/North West who I have used. Also US Airways and Continental whom I haven't used.

Not sure when the poll ends, but better bung in BA direct ftom LHR in case someone wins the lottery and flies with them.

    Hello all,

I am a long time lurker and have decied to take the plunge and post! I love this thread - I have read every page over the past few months and have picked up some wonderful tips. I love the trip reports as well!

Thanks to this thread and trip advisor, I have a road trip booked to the West Coast in September/October. For the Vegas part we have a Celebrity Spa Suite booked at the MGM Grand on the "buffet pass" offer (I forget what the code was) - again thanks to this tread.

I have two questions if I may. 1) I wanted to book something unique and special as a surprise for my other half whilst in Vegas - I have been watching the events on at the MGM Garden Arena but there is nothing I fancy for our dates. Are there any other venues on the strip which hold one-off shows like the MGM does - I really fancied a rock concert like Aerosmith or a boxing match...

    2) I was also thinking of booking a helicopter flight over the strip as another surprise. All the companies seem to offer very similar prices ($99!!) so can anyone recommend any particular company for this based on experience?

Many thanks and again thanks to all for the very very helpful information I have found on this thread.

We have only been to Vegas once before, in 2003 so I am sure there will be lots of changes.
