Airport to Excalibur would be best by Taxi, the general feeling is that shuttles could take for ever. I think you need to state when you get in 'No tunnel' as its the long way round (though quicker I think.) I don't want to start the tunnel arguement here though....

OK, please don't shout at me, I'm sure this must have been covered before, so I've tried doing a search but I couldn't find it.....

I'd like information on getting from the airport to the strip (we're staying at Excalibur). There will be 3 of us, plus bags.

Any advice on relative merits/ disadvantages of any particular way, buses, cabs etc would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Taxi will be best bet, there are plenty of people carrier taxis at the airport. you can find a list of charges from the airport to each casino on the 1st page .

there are shuttle buses , but for the Exacalibur it is not worth the small saving IMO.

The Airport Taxi's are directly outside the Terminal , you cannot miss them. only other advice is to tell the driver .................... " Do Not take the tunnel."

This graphic illustrates where the tunnel is and what the impact is (it's a few years out of date so the rates may not be exact but gives you an idea).

The story that goes with it is here:

    http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2004/Feb-22-Sun-2004/news/23249445.html

Taxi drivers are not supposed to take the tunnel unless you request it or they ask if you want to go that way which can be faster but will be more expensive - it's illegal for them to do it but some still do. We were tunneled to Excalibur once and the fare then was about $20 (this was several years ago)...and there was no reason to that way for Excalibur...unless there's major traffic on Tropicana there's no reason to go any way other than straight up Tropicana. we were also tunneled in October to Bally's...probably faster trip which was fine in principle for us as we don't mind paying a bit more to get there quicker after a long flight...but we weren't asked...we were with the inlaws so we didn't question it, but we didn't tip the driver either.

Personally, I think it's better to ask the driver to take you the fastest or the least expensive route - whichever is your preference, than to say no tunnel...in some cases it may be that there IS a traffic issue on the non-tunnel route and the tunnel would be faster and cheaper.

I can get 4 nights in May for £150! I have the MGM booked at the mo...at a Gran Tower room.

What do you think is nicer?

Gran Tower room MGM or Planet Hollywood. From what I can see the pools are better at MGM.....I know obviously the location of PH is better.....

Any tips...i could cancel my MGM one and get the Planet Hollywood! :):)
My opinion is that PlanetHo is the nicer property, much newer and more chic than MGM but the pool area is DIRE with a capital D
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

thanks for the info mate. interesting.....yeah i thought the pool at PH was bad. Also i read the car lot is difficult and a long way away at PH where as it may be easier with MGM!

IMO PH beats MGM hands down both for rooms and location (standard rooms). As has been said pool is better at MGM.

AS for parking..DONT self park! at either ,both garages are miles from rooms. Valet at both, then it makes no difference

If you want to get there quickly, I wouldnt have a problem going through the tunnel, having said that the Excalibur being next to the runway (well nearly) shouldnt take long either way.
