Hi people
I've got a album's worth of music which currently takes up 40mb of space and I would like to send it via email to a friend. 40mb is way too big!
I've tried using various types of file compression systems like WinZip but I'm having no luck in reducing the size of the file.
Is there something I'm missing?
Is there another way besides buying a new copy of the CD and sending to my friend?
Cheers

Is the 40MB too big because it takes so long to upload (send) or is it just that it won't fit in the email inbox of the recipient?
If it's the latter, then intels choice is the best! However, if it's the fact that you can't be bothered to wait for the upload, then i'm afraid that the only other way is to put it on a CD/Flash Disk/What EVER and mail it them via snail mail (which would just take longer than uploading it anyway!)0 -
You could subscribe to an email service that also provide an on-line Hard Drive (Lycos is free), give your friend the password to access and you are sorted.
Will take a while to upload if you don't have a Broadband connection though.0 -
Thanks for all that info. That'll keep me busy for the rest of the afternoon...thanks.0

This is a bit long winded, but pretty cool once it's done. If you install Winamp, and then add the ml_www plugin (it's called something like that!) you can provide whoever you choose with access to your PC music collection. Then they have the choice to download or listen online what they like. I use it to listen to my CD collection at work.0

Assuming your upload rate is good enough!
Soon I'll be able to do that, but not until Blueyonder give us these UPGRADES GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR0 -
Dccarm what you are saying sounds like witchcraft to me! Can you expand on what you said re: this plugin. Is also sounds rather dangerous that the other person could possibly access other (off limits) areas of my PC. How secure is it and is it free?0

Some info that may limit my PC's ability to utilise WinAmp's talents is that my PC is rather old. I use the W2K O/S and it's only got a Pentium 3 thingy and a speed of 1ghz. I'm changing over to broadband with 2mb speed and 5gb download allowance next week.
Will I still be able to use it with my steam powered PC.

Google Mail have over 2000 MB of free storage space in their mailboxes if you want me to send you an invitation to use the service. It will just take a while to upload though, but then you can give your friend your password and they can download it at their end.
Then you can change your password and use it as an email mailbox if you wish.
PM me your email address if you want an invite as you can't just register - someone has to invite you.0 -
