Dog Food

Options
Can anyone suggest someplace I can get canned dog food at a reasonable price. I previously bought Asda's own brand but this has risen in price by over 50% during the past five months and I am sure there must be better deals out there somewhere.

  • Hi snowytheboy - is that the dog's name? If you look down at the thread 'really cheap food...' you will see the website www.approvedfood.co.uk ?
There are all kinds of food on there incl pet food - don't know what kind but others may be able to tell you? Hope this helps!
  • its worth having a look at the quality of food too as going with a cheaper brand you have to feed them more to get all the goodnes you need, ours are on dry food and its thirty pound a bag 15kg but it lasts two large breeds all month, arden grange. they also do wet food

  • MIL's lab had to have an op and the vet said Chappie was the best! Think it's because it's more balanced than some others and cheaper as well!
  • My friend swears on webbex??? (is it called that the one in sausage shape). My dog has Burns as it was recommended by the vet, previously we were trying him on alsorts of commerical ones without any luck.
  • i get working dog 10 or 15 kg £10.00 its vat free, then make up gravy to poor over from clearance bisto etc plus occasional rice and fish.

Ditto. Bargain of the Century! Our dogs love it so much we also use it for 'treats'! :money: I believe it is VAT free on account of it being classified as for working dogs. If anyone is curious please don't be put off by the low price, this is top quality stuff. We were using Royal Canin until someone recommended Autarky. It works out approx 80% cheaper than Ripoff Canin and IMO is every bit as good.

Yes Chappie is good (apart from the smell)one of my dogs has a digestive problem EPI and if it wasnt for chappie would cost me a fortune in food from the vets, its low in fat,my other two dogs are on it too,you can also get it in a complete form as well as canned mine has a bit of both to give some texture to the food.

Autarky or Costcos own brand would be my choice. I can't use Autarky these days as my youngest can't tolerate chicken :(
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
