  • I have a Hobart N50, like a KitchenAid on steroids, they appear from time to time on eBay, I have also got extra bowls and slicer shredder, grater, mincer and sausage stuffing kit. My stuff is all old metal bodied attachments but all the current KA accesories fit the attachment drive. It is superb, designed to go all day everyday and above all its quiet! Well recommended.

I would be very careful as these ones are A brand, ie they may be customer returns or have light damage to them. I read lots of the feedback and a few people havent been very happy with the article.

To be honest, i'd pay the extra £39 and get a brand new one, they are worth it (I think so anyway)

Got mine from the same place as Kittie and they seem a good site

I'm always cautious but the one I was looking at was A grade and brand new/boxed. I think Amazon were doing them for £240 too
  • Thanks everyone for valuable feed back, and to Nile for putting me in my place! This site really is worth its salt.

I was heading towards Kenwood, as I still use bits (the unbroken ones) from my 30 year old chef. Now my processor needs £80 worth of new bits I thought I'd treat myself.

    Thanks again.
  • I have the Kenwood Multi Pro, which I received for christmas. I can honestly say it's fantastic :)

It does everything a magimix would and more at a fraction of the cost.

Thankyou santa for making me a happy girl!

I am considering buying a kenwood chef mixer as thanks to this site I have started to bake, found myself enjoying it and want to continue. The only problem is that I only have a hand whisk and it kills me when I'm making cakes etc..
Is a kenwood chef worth the money? I have read many reviews recommending it, my mum has one that she got for a wedding present over 30 years ago and won't part with it!
There are some on ebay but I know that there is a new model - is there much difference between the old and new models? Is it worth getting a new one or would a second hand one do the job? Is there a cheaper alternative?
Sorry for so many questions

Just a personal point of view, but I would go for a vgc one on ebay if I could find one especially if it came with accessories.

I have had a kenwood chef for 29 years and use it a lot ( although less since my children left home ). earlier this year it broke and i considered buying a new one. When I looked at them I found that they weren't half as substantial as mine and the salesman agreed that the quality wasn't as good as years ago.
i managed to get mine repaired for £20 which i thought was a better deal, and i think it will now outlive me !
Whether a new one is worth the money, only you can decide. i guess it depends what you will use it for and if you buy any accessories for different tasks.

i find the dough hook and liquidizer invaluable as well as the normal beaters but i dont use too many other tools with it.
you can make huge batches of cake mix in it as it is a lot bigger than other mixers, so handy for batch baking/freezing.
alternatives include kitchen maid and magimix which i dont know too much about , but theyre not cheap either.

    Hi honey :)

If you use the search facility when looking at the old style forum, click on "advanced search" underneath the search box.

In the search box on this page type kenwood* and then just below the box choose "Titles only" from the drop down list.

Now at the bottom of the page hit "go" or start or whatever it is and you'll get a number of threads on different aspects of kenwood chefs.

There's another thread in the Kitchenware section of the MEGA Index sticky that has more info too.

My hubby bought me one two Christmas's ago and everyone thought we were really sad! Our local electric shop was actually cheaper than the big electrical shops but it still set him back nearly £200 (we were mad spenders then!) Having said that I am totally addicted to it now and use it every day. I make bread in it and it takes 5 mins and no dirty hands! I've saved a fortune just on that. You can also whip up homemade biccies and cakes in no time. Best thing I ever got
    :)
