Another I.T. bod (not me, but there seems to be a few of you hanging around this forum :rotfl:)
You know where I am if you need a hand on the MBing but once you have got it, there'll be no stopping you.You might even find it is your new career after you are MF!

Hi,
Wow! You seem really in control of your finances and I love the reasons behind you MF goal. I have an 18 month old DD and I wish I could be a SAHM but the mortgage means I need to work 3 days a week. I wish I had been thinking like you when I was in my twenties as maybe it could have been more of a reality.
I too have been thinking of doing matched betting but I'm a bit scared by the getting started. I've read and re-read the guides and I'm sure I understand it but I want to wait until I've got time to concentrate on it - not easy with a little one! I've got a week off soon so maybe then.
Well done on what you and your hubbie have achieved to date and I'm looking forward to reading your progress in the future.

Well done Money Queen
You are doing very well. i have read your diaries. What an inspiration.
I still have mortgage over 43000 left, and my target is to pay off before August 2010. My current job contract is until the end of Aug 2010, so I have to be more organised than last year. I haven't got much saving at all, so trying to send some cash away into saving every month.
Good luck

Hi Floxxie, Thanks very much and also for your PM.. PMed you just now... I am thinking of starting with MBing next month... I am really going to bother you a lot.. Hope you don't mind...;)
Treacle Toes, I can understand, things can be pretty busy with kids. My sister has two and whenever I am with them, the time just flies.. We have been thinking of having kids after we become MF.. So fingers crossed... Good Luck with your challenges... and please keep us updated with your progress also.. It is such a great motivation
Hi SMF, How are you doing? Thanks very much
MFdream, thanks very much for posting on my Diary.. It means a lot. Have you thought about depositing in Regular Savers. I keep money in Savings Accounts and even after tax, I get better returns than just overpaying the mortgage(1.79%). So will pay the money as a lumpsum at the end of the chappenge. If you can make lumpsum payments to your mortgage, it may be good to deposit money in Barclays or Bradford Bingley Regular Savers - 6% Gross. Also Saffron BS has a 7% Cash ISA Regular Saver at the moment... Good luck
And also thanks to everyone else who has taken time to view my diary. As always you are most welcome to comment or add suggestions etc...

Good luck on the MB activity; I've not had the guts to do so, still "playing" with the Funds in the global markets which is probably less easy to predict than a match outcome when I think about it!
At 45% down at the moment I almost feel like one of the "just once more, my luck must change" characters as I rejigged the portfolio and discussed with OH why we are continuing to put money in each month. It "should" all mean good things in future years as we get units cheap now but it is hard when you put in £300 in a month then see within a matter of a few days £500 wiped off your investment value as is the case today....
We'll continue through 2009, after all, we have 20 years to make up the shortfall before retirement.0 -
Hi Stuart, I am also very scared about venturing into the unknown. I was thinking, should some of the MFWs actually start a diary in the Gambling Board so that we can ask questions/ help and encourage each other etc. I just find the Gambling Board very daunting - Everyone speaks like a professional there. I am thinking of taking it very slow. and Floxxie has been a real help. She does understand this stuff.
Regarding the investments, I know it looks bad right now but if you are investing in right stocks, this will prove to be very beneficial in the long run as you can buy units cheaply at the moment... Good Luck0 -
Agghh, typed out a long reply to then have the baby launch himself at the laptop and manage to lose the whole thing!
Anyway, what I had typed out in detail but will now have to summarise is that I agree the gambling board is daunting if not down right rude at times. Good idea to have our own MB discussion but why not have the diary within your diary MQ or in my 'diary'? There are a number of MBers on this forum - Tall Girl comes to mind.
Stuart, with MBing you don't need to predict anything. You place a bet on something happening and then bet against it happening, using two bookies. One cancels the other out but when using a free bet this equals profit. If done correctly = no risk. This is it in a very simple form (before anybody mentions any terminology!)
People start with the easy free bets and then move onto arbing and dutching. I haven't done all the easy ones yet but will be starting again next week. MQ will be an expert by the end of next week, I bet. :rotfl:

I'll admit I haven't looked at all despite the money TG makes at it! I'm a bit overstretched timewise, but who knows one day...Stuart, with MBing you don't need to predict anything. ... but have you laid that one off against her not being so?MQ will be an expert by the end of next week, I bet. :rotfl:

Hi MQ
Thanks for your suggestions for regular saver accounts. I will look around. I think first of all I need to get ISA right in March/April.
Good luck with your MF journey.
